I was not irritated with it, I thought it would be nice to let the modeler cut out his own holes. I am very pleased with this kit and am having a blast building it, should be lots of fun. I am starting to mess around with the internal components and was wondering if you guys that have flown one like the CG at the 5 3/4'' mark?, what kind of plus or minsu do we have to work with? I am trying to keep CG in mind as I install parts, Just wanna make sure!

Strato,

My comments were directed at Birdseed, but I was just messin with him. Big grin while writing it......

I'll see if I can dig up some test flight data for you....

Yellow,

Not disputing the price or quality of the kit, im very happy with that. :D
What im saying is that why bother making a hole in the first place if it isnt the right size.
Why make a hole at all as you suggest. It would seem to fit that if youre going to do it at all it ought to be the right size. Another 2 cm would do it, and aint going to increase the workload of the producer or the price to the buyer to make a 8cm hole 10cm long.

i know strato says he rather cut his own holes, i, as another customer buying a ARF jet would rather have the holes cut, but i am just lazy. ;)

turbine gear

I finally got all of the turbine gear where it will fit and the CG is happy, talk about a tight fit! A friend suggested I use plexiglass to make the plate instead of the ply so I could see inside the plane more so I decided to give it a try. I think it turned out good, tell me what you guys think.

Stig,

Looks great ! You're pretty fast !

Chris,

The plexiglass is a cool idea. I also like the curly fries job on your servo lead. Any special technique to do that ?

Thanks Marc, my buddy Brett actually thought of the plexiglass so he gets all the credit. To make the servo wire curly fry thing just wrap it around a screwdriver and pull it out and voila!, use different sizes of driver for bigger or smaller loops.

Chris,
That's what I thought but I was wondering if you heat set it with a heat gun or something like that.

Hello Stingray fans.

I finnaly got to fly my Stingray. It was at the jetmeeting we had in Denmark this past weekend. I am very pleased with the model. It is very stable and the speedbrake is also OK. Here are some pic's.

Comming in for a landing with the speedbrake deployed. Sorry for the bad quality of the pics, but I had to edit them to get them on this forum. I wil post a URL to my HP in the next days, where I wil post alle the pics of my Stingray flights. I had 7 flights with it, and got used to it almost right away. I set the control throws on tha ailerons a bit down. The were a bit to big for my taste. But that is individual.

Kelly W 05-04-2003 07:31 PM

landing speed.

Hi Stig,

Some have said the Stingray eats a lot of runway from the high landing speed and limited effect of the stock speedbrake. How did yours perform on landing?

My stingray is about a month way from its first flight.
Thanks,
Kelly
