RE: Another Skymaster Viper
ORIGINAL: OttoKranz Hi all, finally I found a way through the wing for the lights and servo cable. As I thought the passage for the lights was simple but for the servo wires I had to use a little chain (no way in other ways) because in my Viper (we all know they are not all equal) there is a very tiny passage on the middle of the wing. I have done a scheme hoping it will help[sm=thumbs_up.gif] The question marks are ''obscure lands'':D Ciao Alessandro I wont go back and look in the fourum But your little hole is at the end of the wing tube There is a chance of the tube cutting you servo leads As the tube unless fixed in place the tube can float around in the tube guide I fixed mine with bolts to hole them in place,as a matter of facked the wing tube could be (IF SK DID IT) at leasted 200mm longer as I only have 230 mm from root rib into the wing witch Is a bit on the short side . So we must be carefull about this or make the third hole. Thanks for the advice Dento. :) 8 |

RE: Another Skymaster Viper
Hi All,
Anybody used other brand LG/Wheels/Brakes in this Skymaster Viper other than the ones offered by Skymaster? I am not trying to borrow a huge headache by shoehorning gear in that would compromise performance, and I can understand paying $1000+ for scale gear for a military jet, but this is a sports jet so I was hoping to save some bucks...Would a set of Robart 635's or any other mainstream brands work or is it not even worth the headache? Thanks guys, Shaz |

Thanks guys, Shaz Mate I think one thing you will find that the gear on the viper is one fine set, And you would find it hard to get better,When you look around and see what is out there for the money you get your value in the Viper Gear ,The viper is one big fine heavy JET so go for it. REGARDS JOHN |
RE: Another Skymaster Viper
And since the Viper is a scale jet, might as well get scale looking gear. :D

RE: Another Skymaster Viper
I think Sandor (Digitech) mentioned he was designing trailing link gear for the Viper.

Have you ever considered making something for the Kolibri or the forthcomming JetCat P20, there is nothing purpose made out there except for a couple of powered gliders as far as I know or can find? Mike |
RE: Another Skymaster Viper
Anton, very nice scheme! (almost as nice as my VP08 ;) )

Had a few flights with the Viper on Sunday. Previous flights were off a long runway. This was a trial flight on the club 600 foot strip. No wind & the landing was a little fast. Now getting it down much slower. Can land on half the strip. Power Wren 160. Really love this jet. No vices at all.

RE: Another Skymaster Viper
Put some air in those tires Jim, and run some flap for take off. Makes it much smoother rotation and a shorter take off run.
|
RE: Another Skymaster Viper
Thanks Ali. I forgot the flap on that flight. I will inflate the tires. Just love this jet. I am ordering the smaller one for one of my Wren Supersports.

Hi
Will post some pics of my finished Viper later today I have a couple of Questions that some of you may be able to answer 1 Did anyone mass balance the elevators ? ( I have 40 grams in each one ) 2 Did you have to add any weight to get Cof G right 220 mm to 250 mm ( I had to put 250 grams of lead in nose only using 2500mah batteries Cof G at the 230mm mark ) 3 What was the all up weight of yours ( mine with header tank full is 19 kilos) Power is new 160 Jetcat SX Cheers Bronte |

RE: Another Skymaster Viper
Question about the thrust-line:
How did you guys mount the turbine/pipe? Center of the pipe intake aligned with the top (seen with fuse upside down) of the turbine mounting rails? If I extrapolate the line of the mounting-rails, I'll end up with what looks like some up-thrust, so I'll have to shim something. Also, withe turbine on the rails, the starter-motor doesn't really seem centered in the air-intakes. What am I doing wrong?:eek: |
RE: Another Skymaster Viper
What is the total flying weight of the viper dry with a titian of p160 turbine ?
Thanks for your reply in advance Tom |

RE: Another Skymaster Viper
Craig,
thanks! Looking at your pictures, it doesn't look like you had to shim the turbine? So the mounting rails are (more or less) in line with the centerline? I'll try stretching a string through the fuse, should tell me a bit more about my fuse. But it sounds like a 0-degree thrustline works fine, thanks! Hans |

Hans No shim between the turbine and the mounting rails. I actually stretched the string on the outside (bottom) and with the fuselage upside down, looked through the turbine hatch opening, and visually lined up the turbine. Not extremely precise but close enough. Craig |
