RE: Another Skymaster Viper
ORIGINAL: cgroen Thats good news Jas! can you shoot a picture or two of the install with the new cylinder ? |
RE: Another Skymaster Viper
Thanks Jas,
I was not paying attention to that one, thanks again ;) |
RE: Another Skymaster Viper
Gonzalo is 40mm enough on the rudder? I know Ali has between 65-70mm on his rudder and he uses nearly all if it for those nice long knife edge passes and I have slightly more than that on mine.

RE: Another Skymaster Viper
Duncan,
Are you measuring your rudder throw at the top or bottom of the rudder? Thanks |
RE: Another Skymaster Viper
Good point mike, I hadn't thought that that could be what has happened. We are measuring from the bottom, so the part of the rudder that moves the furthest

RE: Another Skymaster Viper
Duncan, thanks for clarifying where I should measure at. While anxiously awaiting the arrival of my ViperJet, I've been scouring over this thread every day. The info that all of you have been posting is going to make the build and modifications so much easier than having to be the point man. Thanks to all of the posters for sharing your mods and flight experiences. [sm=thumbs_up.gif]

RE: Another Skymaster Viper
Guys the manual said 25mm each side?......a total of 50mm? In my case it does 40mm each side a total of 80mm that should enough?
Please let me know, Regards, Gonzalo |

Please let me know, Regards, Gonzalo 40mm should be fine. I had about 40mm in one direction and 45 in the other. Enough rudder for knife edge both directions with some to spare. Obviously varies with your cg, speed etc.. but you should be fine. Craig |
RE: Another Skymaster Viper
Super! many thanks Craig!

Hi all,
What length servo half arms are you using? I was thinking that a 1-1/4" half arm could be used on all flying surfaces. What do you think, before I go ordering the wrong lengths? |

RE: Another Skymaster Viper
I used the standard arms that came with the JR 8511 & JR 8711 servos. They work fine. The only non JR servo I used was a titanium Hitec for the rudder, with an aluminium arm.

RE: Another Skymaster Viper
I also used the standard arms (the big one) that came with 8711 servos except for the rudder where I used the heavy-duty aluminium from Graupner with two socket-head screws. And I have a red tail so is just perfect ;)

Hi Guys
finished today our super lumina set :-) with over 90LM per side this MUST be the strongest lightset you can get... lumen per watt lm/W ratio of luminous flux to radiant flux so you give or take about 90 watts of power in one wing!! power consumption : 350mAh per led give or take a 1500 mAh should provide a hour of light Voltage needed 3,9 volts the set i made contains 4 leds 6 lasercutted fake carbon plates. as you can see on the pics it does look nice and clean there will be a 3 wire servo cable attached with positve in the middle and the 2 leds fed by 2 x negative , so you can use 2 lights or 4 at a time. example : normal flight 2 leds , left and right landing : all 4 leds we are also working on a Front oleo landing light cut from 28ST alluminium , but this will be done right after we finisch the oleo,s... so even if you are a scottsman you can afford this light set..:D it is NOT possible to show you a decent picture when the lights are on , my camera goes bazurk and doubles the image. and that is even when NOT pointing strait into the beam! |

That looks very nice Sandor, can't wait to get my hands on a set :D
I was out today doing the maiden of my Viperjet! Yihaa, that is one nice plane, it flies so nice and true, a real blast ! The P200SX is sick power, it gives the plane great authority, you never have the feeling that you need more power, you have all you could ever want! Verticals, well, they are vertical (Hill climbing to some [8D]) Both landings were perfect, got it down real slow, and had a very limited roolup before full stop, lands just as easy as my Elan does (and looks a lot better ) I got two flights on it, sometime during the second flight, half of the canopy blew off! I might have been the bad glue, I don't know, but please make sure to add extra on yours ! I didn't even notice it in flight that it was missing, it was first after landing I noticed it. Guidance is with a Futaba 14MZ and Weatronic 12-22 receiver I used the settings from the manual, only difference was I went with +/- 20 mm on the ailerons (30% exponential on all surfaces), flaps was 15 and 45 degrees, with 3% downtrim at 15deg flap, and 6% downtrim on 45 deg flaps (as previously noted). CG was set at 240 mm. I'm a VERY happy camper, that now NEEDS A NEW CANOPY GLASS, SANDOR ARE YOU LISTENING :D:D |

RE: Another Skymaster Viper
Thanks my friend ;)
Yes, I can't thank you enough for talking me into the P200SX, WOW, thats not the last time I have bought one of the "Big Block Engines" :D |
RE: Another Skymaster Viper
Forgot one thing, I'm using the "EVSD-5U-PRO Airpower multivalve thing", and I notice that one of the main gear does not retract completely in flight, and when the gear retracts, it's looks very "scale", as if they don't get enough air.
I have no restrictors etc in the lines for the gears, have any of you experienced the same (low air output from the EVSD-5U-PRO) ? I'm running with 8 bar pressure, and it works ok on the ground, but doesn't "slam" the gears in. |
RE: Another Skymaster Viper
Congrats Carsten, too bad about the canopy! For a moment there I thought you were going to get Sandor to CNC a new canopy for you... :D

RE: Another Skymaster Viper
I bought Ron Long's Viper and I've been flying the snot out of it. I have about 20 flights on it since I bought it 2 weeks ago. The P-200 makes for some good times!

You sure you didnt have a bird strike!! http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f.../omg_smile.gifBloody hell that looks like a Albatross went through that!! http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f...eeth_smile.gifWell at least its only a canopy to sort out. Sandor the lights and install look good. H <br type="_moz" /> |
RE: Another Skymaster Viper
Thanks H,
birdstrike, hmmm, I don't think so, I didn't see any birds, and there were no "remains" on the plane :D |
