Things are coming along good. Almost ready for paint. Need to put the control horns on ,attach front and rear wings to the fuse, little more rivets and detail and she will be about ready for the paint barn.

I had to send the retracts back for an update on the front steering servo mount. It was coming up to far and hitting the bottom of the cockpit tub. I am having it set up to take a hi-tec hs-5085mg and turning it 90 degrees from where it is now. I think 60 oz. should be enough for the steering? This set is for another customer, but when we get it dialed in we will have to get you a set on order. At that point i will have them finish the detail that will go on them. Not sure how long that will take but the turn around time on the retracts was pretty quick.

I took a few pictures for you. I added some raised panels for all the formation lights as you can see on the rear verticle stab. These are on the wingtips, top and side of the fuse. They should add a bit more depth to it. Waiting on paint and cant wait to see how it all comes out. Keep you posted.

Almost forgot about the pylons. They should be done in a few days and i was wanting to detail them out with rivets as well. Starting to get faster at this rivet thing. Those pylons will look sweet with the rivets.

I also ordered some matte black vinyl for the Barksdale tusks to cut out on the vinyl cutter. Its a bit fun trying to conform a waterslide to the nose area contour. This way i can paint the inner part white using a stencile and outline it with the black vinyl. This will be much easier to conform and look nicer. I will do this with the teeth as well.

Chris,

WOW! That is most excellent looking! The rivet detail is outstanding, I believe the HS-5085 will have enough torque for steering. I'm heading up northern CA this weekend for work (and to pick up some goodies for the A-10...servos, esc's, pushrods, etc). My building table is clear and ready to assemble this one as soon as it arrives, my plan is to have it ready by the end of January so I can fly it in February. Thanks again for the update and photos.

Got my black vinyl and tried a little practice on the tusks. I am new to vinyl cutting although it is the same basic concept as using my other cad programs that i use to cut my other parts out. I seem to be having one annoying problem with it and maybe someone here has the experience to help out. The curves are made up of single entities or lines. The plotter pecks like a chicken at all these lines going around the curves. I would like it to go around a closed object in one clean swoop without the plotter cutter coming up off the vinyl. I have been researching this but do not come up with much. The only thing i can think of is to combine all these lines into one entity which i have not been able to do. I downloaded the trial version of the new Corel Draw as i bring them in as a dxf out of my other cad program but have not had the time to mess with it a whole lot. Any help would be great. The graphics come out good but i think they would be even nicer and cut faster without all the pecking going on.

They look really good! I can see how you get addicted to them, they add that next level of detailing to any build. Man that is going to look great painted and weathered!

Do you have all those pics in HiRes (or any Res)? The reason i'm asking is because I want to put together a little build book to put alongside the jet whenever I take it to fly, and to display at our clubs booth during the AMA here in Ontario, CA (you know people are going to ask about it with all the detail that's going into it). If you do and it's not going to be a lot of trouble could you please put it on CD when you send my kit to me, it would be greatly appreciated.

Goin good. Yes , about mid December. I should be getting the updated retracts back in a few days to make sure all is good to go. After that, we will have to get you a set on order and then they will start the scale detail on them. They will have a few molds to make for them and am not quite sure how long it will take them but better them than me, because i am about molded out now with this thing. First coat of paint is on. Heres you a couple. Rivets came out excellent!

Rivets and raised panel details turned out excellent! Paint makes the rivets and raised panel very subtle, and I'm sure the weathering will make it look even better.

Shaun,

Not sure how it flies with the P-60's (have not read or heard of anyone doing it with turbines yet). I have two SM110-52's running on 10S per EDF for it.

Franco from Florida flew his on a pair of P-60's but not sure exactly how it flew. I heard it came in at about 40 lbs. and flew ok ,but just a bit heavy. Maybe Ty can fill us in?

40 lbs, just a little on the heavy side. I believe MarkBrown was looking at around 25-27 lbs on his SM110-52 with 10S. I'm looking at the same weights as his maybe a tad heavier with all those sweeeeet rivets!:D
