To each his own folks. WHo cares what someone else drives? Get what you like and make it what you want it to be. The Mammoth is more of an on-track truck in it's stock form. It does fine in that respect with no mods whatsoever as the XTM drivers display on a regular basis with thier basically unmodified Mammoths. If you want to bash it, you need to beef up some weak points. After that it's all good. T-Maxxes break constantly if you bash them hard. The bulkheads are weak....Why didn't Traxxas make a better bulkhead? They made the truck how they made it and left it for the customer to deal with the same as any other company. If you drive it too hard it breaks and if you want to continue to drive it that hard you gotta buy some upgrades. Don't brag on the REVO too much either. It's a neat truck and all but there are guys that replace a shock ball end every lap. There is a problem somewhere in the design that extends far beyond the "150 or so trucks" that Traxxas says they got complaints on. Why are the ends the only non-option part consistently out of stock at Tower? The one way in the starter breaks regularly for a lot of people and the engine runs way too hot for a lot of people too. I'm not bashing I'm just saying that the REVO has it's problems as advanced as it is. The Savage has weak points too....I had one of the 2nd run Savage .21's. It sucked. The wheels stripped constantly and fell off. The one-way in the tranny broke constantly and I only saw it shift to 2nd once(right before the one-way bearing broke the first time). I'm gonna give the Savage another try with the SS kit because I like how it jumps and it seems like they fixed a lot of the Sav .21's problems. But I'm keeping my Mammoth because I love the way it handles and the way it performs.

Man RCU is retarded...we can not even have a nice conversation about the XTM Mammoth without people who don't even own them coming in. I do understand somewhat what FastCrash was saying (I'll choose to disagree as will all the local racers about the Picco/Wasp .26).

However "T-Maxx killer with my cen mt2" is just a liar and a flame war fanboy. I've seen his posts, everytime he posts it's to start or continue a flame war. Go back to the CEN fanboy fun.

Mr. furious, i agree with much of what you have to say, almost every truck made has its share of problems, but even if they ran perfectly out of the box,we would still keep the aftermarket parts guys around just in our pursuit for bigger better and faster. My only real beef with the mammoth is that it isnt the most innovative truggy out there so they should have had the shock tower braces figured out. All of the trucks i bought brought something new to the monster truck market. Well lets face it , if not for the t-maxx(which im not the biggest fan of) this monster truck market would consist of clods, usa-1's and not much more. My first truck was the original t-maxx. looking back ,it sucked , but there was nothing else and at the time it was great. Then hpi jumped in with the savage. Once again, they didnt just copy off of the tmaxx, they built a totaly different ,never seen before kind of truck. And now again with the revo, which i have experienced some of the problems you described( shock ball ends, which i was told were made from the wrong plastic) and the one-way bearing in the e-z starter. I was afraid of the 2.5R cause of previous experience with the 2.5, but it has run pretty damn good. Only problem with it is that i like to walk out in the woods on singletrack and hunt for obstickles, which means that a lot of the time the engine is between idle and 1/4 throttle, without much room to 'clear it out' and that causes it to stall once in a while.
I guess the bottom line is that ,if you enjoy your truck, great, if not we've all got our own opinions on where to spend your money. [8D]

i for one agree with binary terror RCU blows in the fact that you cant have an honest discussion about trucks w/out "t-maxx killer with my cen MT2" coming over to start a flame war, this forum would be better off without theses people here. I think the mods should grab a plunger and get crakin' (insert witty plumber joke here) there are alot of knowlegeable people here, but also to many flamers for my liking

I wanted to, but well you know I love my Mammoth and I want others to enjoy it without FAKE comments from bad users.

I have filed (PM'd) a complaint to the RCU guys regarding this user.

first off , that bake sale comment at the bottom of your reply is hilarious

anyway back to buisness. i havent seen a .247 thats ran good yet . thats not saying the guys with the screwdrivers knew what they were doing, but they seemed pretty eager to replace them when they saw the performance of my .26 outlaw. and your right the savage isnt a great race truck, but thats about its only weakness. imo the best racetrucks are t-maxxes, revos, and the assortment of truggies (probably including mammoth). and the reason i started this "war" is cause rayray blasted the savage, which is one of the best all around trucks out there, and you dont need to fabricate a big ass hunk of steel because hpi didnt overlook the fack that most of us love to bash, and dont always land shiny side up. and im sorry if you guys get pi$$ed, but the mammoth looks so been there done that. i bought the original t-maxx, cause there really wasnt nothin like it at the time. then the savage for the same reason and now the revo. i like when a company starts with a clean slate. those are my opinions, offerred, not forced, from my years of experience in this hobby.----------chris

If you want a roto start unit itself buy whichever is cheapest, HPI, OFNA, Hot bodies as they are all the same. The OFNA back plates work the best on the XTM engines because they have the starter cup at 9 o'clock rather than 11 o'clock like the HPI and Hot Bodies ones designed for the Savage. OFNA also includes a spacer to keep the little spring inside the XTM back plate in the proper position. Any plate for the Savage 21 or 25 will work but the OFNA specifically for the 24.7 is the best bet and is usually 3-4 bucks cheaper.

mr furious, thanks. with the rotostarts do they turn supper fast and how long does the stick pack keep a charge? does it last a full day of running? and does the rotostart turn faster then a cordless drill 9.4 volt?
rayray youll also want to upgrade your shock oil to a higher weight. if im not mistaken the stock weight in the shocks are 10 weight.

Yeah a lot faster. My 12v cordless set on the highest speed barely kicks the 247 over.
