I've flipped mine over many times, cart wheeled x 5, and never damaged any items under the body! I think the roll cage is a "want thing" more than a need thing.
I've have a tmax for two years now, and the guys I run with can kill anything, but Ive never seen anything under the body tore up, that a roll cage would have prevented.
But whatever floats your boat I guess.
my 2 cents

I'm rather new to the Trucks and I have one of these "full size" cages. It adds some weight, but I figure I've already saved one shell with one afternoon's worth of spills on a track. I figure the trade off is how quick you can lean to jump and not burn though the shells in the process.
Not to rip on myself, but I see at least an ROI break even.

Yes, the Proline .60 lexan bodies are great, but the stock Tmaxx body gets trashed with pretty minimal impact.
The roll cage may be optional, but some need it more that others!

even if you drive harder than we do, I don't see the need for the weight, nor any benefits from it. the lexan is still going to be scratched to the point of no return. If I were that worried about it, I would buy an extra body, one for static display, and one to run with, before I bought a roll cage.
but then again, everyone has there opinion!

Yeah, I also have an extra body for the Tmaxx. But the new 2.5 engine has TONS of power to handle the load. Just add some stiffer springs and your set to race.
But as you say, to each his own.
This kinda reminds me of seeing these guys who live in the city driving the giant SUV's and installing brush guards! What for, jockeying around the mall parking lot?????
Have a great day!
