Steering servo ay...hmmm...I thought it would have a good one to be boasting all that great turning and power in curves and all...so just upgrade that and you're golden (on the hellfire).

What steering servo would you recommend to replace it with?

He's everywhere! He's everywhere! Yep, here's the one I have in my beast

If your wrist and arm are strong enough, you can hold your truck in the air by a wheel and swing it back and forth by the steering on the radio.

Thats like those guys saying I should get the Spektrum DX3 because it has an extra receiver and more model memory. I don't need all that, the DX2(2 channel, 1 receiver) for $170 is all I need 1 radio for 1 truck in this case, the Hellfire. I have 2 JR XS3s if I want to put a lot of trucks on 1 radio. The Hellfire is going to be my "Race" truck for "Real" competition.

I have a few Hellfire video clips here Jason that'll kind of give you an idea of some of the stress and punishment that servo can take.

I'm getting the X1CRT to compliment my Sav X, With the free receiver of the Spektrum DX3 it seems the obvious choice, the kit of the X1CRT in the uk is about $200 cheaper than the hellfire, and I have a engine, servos and wheels and all i need is the pipe.

Thats cool, you see, when I get my x1CRT RTR I have a receiver for my JR XS3s that can go into it or I might buy another DX2. You see I want other people, my 2 sons that don't have trucks (2 of my sons have Revos), their friends & my friends that don't have trucks who come to my place for our big cookouts to be able to race too. This means radios for each truck and a lot of frequencies. And what the hell it's only another $170 LOL.

My Hellfire lives!
I ran through the first tank this evening with the legs in the air; occasional minor throttle above idle.. temp using the factory settings reached ~221 during the run until it was almost out of fuel and leaned out.. quickly jumped up to ~255 before dying out (measured via IR on top of head).
replacement steering servo should be here soon.. My stock radio was broken out of the box due to minor electrical issues.. fixed those.. i'll deal with the stock radio setup for a /little/ while anyway. My only other R/C car/truck that isn't retired is an RC18T... not quite ready to put a new receiver in it just to justify a single remote for the two trucks.

The 3.3 TMAXX is nice too. Not a beast like the Hellfire but for a MT it rocks. I got a couple video clips of mine this afternoon. Windy and cold but got out there anyway.......

Heres a pic of my soon to be new Stars and Stripes Hellfire body (It is a Hellfire body BTW) It'll somewhat match my Revo and the new body for the TMAXX will be Stars and Stripes theme too. I also ordered the new Proline Bowtie MT tires for the Hellfire

Bill, looks nice!
I completed the breakin on my hellfire today... or rephrase, "it's almost as broken in as it is going to get and is hopefully right".
I've ran 4 tanks through it thus far and haven't tuned anything yet... first tank idled around ~240-250 degrees... second tank I let it heat up to ~250 under light throttle then let it cool to ~100, repeat.
By the third tank, it wouldn't heat up above 230 and the 4th tank, it would barely break 200.... So.. tomorrow I'll lean it out a bit....

Here's a couple pics of my Hellfire with the Mugen wing stay kit and an OFNA wing. I love the little antenna from the Spektrum reveiver.

Since I've increased the size of my website from 500MB to 1200MB I'm going to really expand my RC section As it is now it's mostly my Delta Force online gaming team (which I've commanded since 1999), a large section of my aquariums and a little of my beginnings in RC trucks. The 1st thing I'm working on is a Banner for the RC section and I'll be doing a page or 2 on my preparing and painting this new body for the Hellfire. I use Dreamweaver UltraDev. It's a professional website builder and Macromedia Fireworks. I also have the ability to make Macromedia Flash movies. Bill Plude isn't just for RC Trucks anymore boys and girls
It's a sunny day today and after I go help a very close fellow Viet Nam Vet, who has lost his site to diabietes, get his computer working again(it has that talk to text thing), I'm going to try for some more videos.

In my opinion, "yes". I just put a 320oz/torque steering servo in place and ... Wow... what a difference. on pavement it'll kick up a leg on turns. :-)
plenty of power... handling is just amazing.. it is NOT a basher.. but can take some beating.. it'll climb quite a bit... there are videos of it doing pretty good jumps, but it doesn't have the suspension travel of other trucks.

WHY are people pulling the motor, servos, and tires off of new Hellfires and selling the Rollers on ebay? I can't figure this out??
