Honestly dude, unless you have an OS 30 on hand I wouldnt buy one. They arent all that powerful compared to some of the cheaper .28 and .32's. They are over priced if you compared it to other engines in that price range, and you would be getting a lot more power for your dollar if you went with something else. If you are gonna spend $250, buy a novarossi XS or a axial .32, either one you would still have cash left over for an exhaust and in the end would have more power.

Just for comparison, the axial .28 spec 1 makes more torque than the OS .30, and for almost $100 less.

Also, glad to see that you will be going with the LST setup. Good luck with it.

Its all dependant of what you want to do with it. If you are gonna be racing, you need to stick with a .28 or less. If you were gonna strictly bash, I'd say go with a .32. Any of the engines mentioned in this thread other than the novarossi's and OS's are under or around $200.

As far as total build cost of an LST, you can spend anywhere from $5-600 to $3500, even more easily. All depends on how deep your pockets are. LOL.

Well for one I'm still not sure what you are looking to do. Are you gonna just go with an LST roller and build it with hop up parts, or just buy stock parts and build it that way??? I dont know. Or are you gonna buid something custom? And that depends on what your definition of custom is. Recently I have put like $2G into my LST2 and you cant barely tell unless you look really closely and know what you are looking at. I should have just built it from the ground up with hop up parts, but you still have to buy stock parts at some point. As far as buying a tranny and all that stuff, you can buy them from horizon or another online store, but your best bet is gonna be ebay. Look for the LST2 chopshops on there.

does roller mean as in have everything on it (stock) and just upgrade from there??roling chassis=roller?!? sorry its late and im just getting confused...

this is what I planned on doing...
1) have LST chassis
2) have stock LST tranny
3) have stock LST Drivetrain
4) have the LRP .28 Spec 1 engine
5) have (hop up) shocks and shock tower
6) have diffs and gears aluminum
7) have few other inexpensive hop ups for durbaility(nothing big)

thats it for now..nothing too big or anything I just thought to have a better engine plus the other stuff would save me money as oppposed to buying it stock and taking the engine out.

Would it be cheaper to build it up this way instead of buying it stock and tearing it down?

Is the LST 2 and LST a lot different because if I buy some parts of a LST2 and put it on the LST chassis will it fit with no mod? or not?

A roller includes everything except engine, and electronics, and sometimes may not include tranny pieces, wheels/tires, etc. I'd seirously try to finda cheap slightly hopped up LST1 roller.

That doesnt sound all that bad, I would personally stick to the stock LST2 shocks. There isnt anything out there that is much better, and stay away from integy for the most part. As far as the roller, its just a rolling chassis, sometimes including more stuff than others, depending on the seller and price.

Also you might want to go with as much stuff from the LST2 instead of teh original, the LST2 is more updated, although majority of parts will fit both. The only things that are different and arent interchangable are the axels, a-arms, knuckles and carriers, and rear carriers, all this stuff is updated for durablilty. Feel free to add anything I missed abu.

yah thats what I thought a roller was..but can I buy a roller brand new instead of used?...cuz I dont care for used because you dont know how the previous user took care of it?... If I can find a roller than thatll solve a lot of issues...

2 more questions...
1) where can I buy a roller..?ebay?(looked but cant find)?
2) whats better the piggyback shocks or the reg shocks ?

You can find rolers on any place like eBay etc. If you cant find the roller now, keep searching every day, but hold off on the roller and buy the other things you need for it. And stick with the Normal Shocks. IMO PiggyBacks are a waste of money.

You will rarely see a new roller. Almost all are used. But that doesn't matter, because it doesn't have the engine, servos, or radio. Just tear it down, clean it up, and hop it up

IAWTP! The only way you can find a "roller" new, is if ya buy a kit, which Losi doesn't make.
