As far as the carb goes, I would put a little high temp RTV around the very top of the part of the carb that slides into the motor just as some extra insurance on the seal.
The Revo bashes nicely. I constantly pound on mine, and the only thing that it wants is me to refuel the tank as needed, swap out the glowplug when needed, and occasionaly clean it up. A definite tip to stop the screws from loosening is to go through and take out all of the screws, and while putting it back together, put some threadlock on all of the screws. Did this to my Revo and haven't had any loose screw issues yet. Good luck with your carb problem.
