i keep melting my spurgear not stripping it but actually melting some of it. I think i might have a harder time melting a steel spurgear. my mt2 and savage are out of commission till i get money for the repairs and upgrades the only working one is the mini-lst but that dosent see mud. the rain so far has been bad for me working outside at job sites and just mud all around the new houses so i got home today with a bout 6 inches of mud on my feet. i screwed up my etnies i never figured it was gonna be that bad. The highlight of my day was passing by the Delorean (back to the Future car) factory near Bush Int.[sm=omg_smile.gif][sm=drowning.gif]

I've personally never done it but heard of boilding or baking them. Someone said to heat an oven up to about 350 and then turn it off, put the tires in for 10 minutes and pull them out. You have to heat up the CA glue to get it to come undone. Search first before doing it, it is just something I read. MAKE SURE YOU WEAR GLOVES IF YOU DO!!! I bet they get REAL toasty!

Ok guys, Snapped some pics of the progress of the truck. Got most of it together last night. Last thing to figure out is the radio tray which is going to suck because I have that huge venom failsafe I have to mount somewhere. I want to mount it right over the batteries but there is a huge ziptie right there.

THS racing pipe mounted to the T15. It is running stock gearing.

Minus the radio tray

GPM 3mm chassis

the sexy rearend

jsut sitting on for now to get an idea of the look.

I've run the 2 speed in my truck. I couldn't agree more with rcnz, if you are looking to upgrade to a .18 motor GET THE OS .18 CV-RX. It is a WAY better motor than the 18ss motor. If you get the OS motor it would beat an MT with a T15 motor and 2 speed tranny easily.

I ran the 2 speed in my truck with my OS motor and it was crazy. Lots of low end and lots of top end. Fun truck to drive. Problem is, the 2 speed tranny does not have a slipper setup so your drive train is completely locked in when your clutch shoes are spinning the clutchbell so when you land off a jump with your motor revved you will be breaking parts or stripping spur gears.

If you are planning on running onroad and that is it, then the 2 speed would be fun to play with. If you are going to drive off road at all, stick with the single speed. Either way you go, get the OS .18 CV-RX, you won't be sorry!

Here is the 2 speed I used

http://cgi.ebay.com/HPI-2-Speed-Tran...QQcmdZViewItem

Here is the clutch bell I used.

http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXM729&P=7

and you would need this pilot shaft to run it

http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXM721&P=M

and run this racing clutch. It's awesome.

im new to these forums....i was just curious what you guys think of the 2 speed for the mt 2? where can i find one that will work and do i have to do any modifying to install it? also does the 18 ss add bottom end and top end? maybe the better question is...would a 18 ss make it as fast as a 2 speed. thanks

You will have to boil them for about 15 - 30 minutes to loosen up the CA glue. Make sure you squeeze the tires while under water so that they can suck water into the tires and soak the foam. By doing this you will enable the wheels to be submerged while the water boils. Sometimes certain parts of the tire will not break loose and you will have to continue to boil them. I do this all the time and it works great.

I like the way you work, that truck looks good, that kid is a lucky kid. I have 2 sons 9 months and 2 1/2 years and I hope to be building them rc cars soon (Like 2 years from now). My 2 1/2 year old is already practicing driving my cars and trucks but has a way to go. I can't wait. (My poor wife)

wow Ive got some work on my hands. I'm going to clean my car up real good (for the fresh engine), my car is so muddy [X(]. i love cleaning it. anyway i was just reading some posts on the 2speed gearing. is it a straight drop in process? are any mods needed? i was thinking of getting a 2 speed gearing set because they have them on offer for £20 i think the rrp is around £40-50. And having a 2speed...what are the advantages/disadvantages? what happens if you jump and you land in the second gear lol? plus i love the sound of it shifting into second gear . I think when i get my new engine i will break it in and leave it. because i need to upgrade my diffs. because now i have the money
when i order my diffs shall i buy diff oil and it comes in different watts? [&:] what do you guys run or what should i use?. and should i get after-run oil aswel, i want to try and get the longest life time out of this engine.

If you are melting you spur good chance the clutch is slipping so bad it is heating up the CB, which in turn melts the spur. I have run the same plastic spur in my Savage for well over 7 gallons with out a problem and 8 plus gallons in my MT. The only spur I ever had a problem with is the first one on my Savage do to the stock clutch slipping so bad on break in. Replaced it with good clutch shoes and have no had any more problems. If you are melting spurs and replace with a metal you are not fixing the problem just covering it up.
Good Luck

if you jump your truck stay away from the two speed. They don't have slippers. It'll bust quick and you will go through spurs like crazy. If you run onroad it is ok.

He hasn't had the best life growing up so giving him this truck is the least I can do to bring a little joy into his life. Worst part is, He is huge into video games. I think he is gonna kick our rearends all around the race track after he gets a little driving time in.

As for the body. I give it two days before it's beat up. 1st day he will take it easy, next day he'll be bashing I would have just slapped a solid paint job on it if I cared about it getting beat up. I honestly can't wait to see some war wounds on it!

Read through the last 10 pages or so (I know it will take a few minutes) but there is a TON of information about what parts people are running and where to get them.

well no i do not do crazy jumps like on beatyourtruck lol what happens if i hit a lil bump on the grass and the wheels come off the ground? will i mess up the whole spur gear(s)? im sure i have seen a video of you doing some cool jumps lol...or did you not have the 2speed in when that video was taken. and that is a very nice thought & present for the kid. get a video of the cars buzzin around. also...did you put it together so you have someone to bash with lol. savages have 3speeds and they do crazy jumps but they have slippers on them dont they. can you not fit a slipper clutch on. or am i asking for the impossible.

put cable ties around your heatsink so then when you flip it you keep your head protected from spliting and scratching, cheap insurance

if you want to get technical, you CAN put the 2 speed in it and jump. As long as you aren't on the throttle when you land you should theoretically be ok because the clutch bell can spin freely. I had my 2 speed in and did some serious jumping and only stripped the spurs once and that was because of the motor mounts coming lose.

I'm not saying it won't work and that it will break every 5 minutes. I'm just saying, expect to break parts if you offroad the 2 speed. I did it expecting to break something and just got lucky.

you are correct about the savage tranny. All of the gearing is internal and on the outside of the transmission is the spur gear which has a slipper setup.

I'm definitely looking to get him out there and bashing around. The more the merrier! I don't think we have had all our trucks out at once yet. We found out last time that me and my buddy who has an 18ss have the same frequency in our trucks which sucked because I wanted to run his 18ss against my OS.

ok thanks alot buddy. i love getting technical and most likely i will get the 2speed as i do not jump that often and i wont need to worry about stripping the gears as most of the time i land on the roof . and when i jump i dont go crazy i jump and let the throttle off then when i land sucesfuly (not that often) thats when i hit the throttle again. i mainly run it on rought terrain not jumps as there is not many around here. plus i dont have a track and i do not race so i dont think there would be a problem. i just love the sound of it. would it increase my cars performance with a 2speed & with the lrp.z18s im getting in less than 5 days

not only do i use cable ties but i also wrap the head with fuel tubing.
it seems no matter where i put the ties i still hit the head. so i wrap the whole head with ties and fuel tubing.

nope the ties and fuel tubing doesn`t melt. just make a ring around the
head with the tubing and use ties to hold it there.
