Welcome to the forum and you have come to the right place i,m fairly new to Nitro trucks as well but well on my way with all the great hobbyist here much good advice and ideas ,first off your not new to nitro just trucks right ,you do know how to do proper break in on engines and stuff, depending if your going to just play around and stuff the only weak points i,ve found and heard about here are the C hubs are weak if you hit things lol ,knuckle s dew to screws stripping out,and pretty much the ss kit comes with heavy duty gears but you may want to make sure there shimmed right 46u is one of the most informative guys you can count on he,s got great experience in this field.but welcome goodluck and hope you like the mt2 as much as most of us.Oh aqnd there are many helpful people here besides 46u ,but remember gentlemen, its always good to try and help but we must watch because sometimes advice aint good for the newer and younger generation who will just try anything weather it be right or wrong advice thats why i,ve kind kept quite with advice, ive learned by trial and error for the most part ,all in the enjoyment of the hobby, going to build my own track on my parents land ,just to bad i,ll only be able to run it there when i go on vacation to visit the family 1100 mile away lol.16 hour drive one way for two weeks

Hello All,
I just ordered the 18SS kit and Spektrum DX3 radio today. This will be my first truck as I have been flying planes for a few years now. I just want something to mess around with here at home. Is there anything special that I need or need to do. Please be easy on me because this is all new to me and I'm sure I will have a lot of questions.

yea welcome to the thread. i would suggest you get aluminum steering knuckles for the car because it is the weakest point of the truck. i went through a few sets before changing them to aluminum and they never broke since

Thanks for the warm welcome guys. I think I will go a head get the aluminum knuckles to start with. I have read most of this thread and have picked up a lot from you all. The reason for getting this truck was I wanted a 4WD stadium truck. Just like the way the Stadium trucks look. Was going to buy the RTR but my son talked me into the kit. This will just be for bashing I guess. There are no tracks around here with out having to drive for an hour and a half. Now flying fields, there everywhere.

I will post some pics when it's all finished up. I did read the review that is on here. From the video in the review the truck seems a little flat on the low end like the auther said. Is the included gearing going to be OK. I really don't care about the high speed stuff right now but I do like to get up and go.

yeah it is a little flat on the rear as is most 1/10 st but there is a solution for that, chech out the pic of my truck. and yeah the stock gearing is pretty neutral, that is it has a pretty even amount of top and bottom end

My MT2 has been out of action for two weeks. I was in the initial stages of my new engine break-in (O.S .18 CV-RX) with my new diffs when the drive just jammed.

Fearing that my diffs have messed up, I haven't used the car since then (been too busy to check it out and I've just had a new 'proper' car too, so that's been having all my attention).

Anyway, being Sunday, it was a good day to check the diffs. Before I took them apart I had a good look at the car an lo and behold, there was a small piece of tarmac jammed inside one of the teeth of the spur gear preventing the clutch bell gear meshing with it. Such a simple problem, and such a simple solution. I just dug the tarmac out with a screw driver.

Looking forward to continuing the on-road break-in of my new engine this afternoon (hope the weather holds).

I am guessing you're talking about the exhaust. What is it and where can I get one?

all i can say even if the meshing is correct,if you push it hard and bash hard it doesnt matter how its set up its going to strip spur unless you got the slipper clutch way to loose for anything to run good,i,ve got mine tightened all the way because i found the slipper clutch doesnt work for me to begin with.

agree 100% my mesh is correct and all that but i can't go out with my truck unless i have a spare "spur gear" i just cant trust it if im pushing the truck hard.who ever desighned it with metal clutch bell pushing all of the engines power onto the plastic spur just stupid!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i think i will get it becasue even if it slows it down it is only 4 quid wasted which is about 8 bucks which is cheap for a spur gear over here!!!!!!

you will need a heavy duty cb, and i wouldnt say that a steel spur cant strip, my engine mounts came loose once and it got pretty close to stripping if i didnt notice it soon enough it probably would have stripped
