I run the stock O.S. filter with an outer foam element from Ofna. Looks almost exactly the same as your setup...the outer filter foam just tends to extend the life of the inner element.

Thanks for the tip, I'll replace the alloy with the stock ones, it should lighten it up a bit and the stock black arms look better in my opinion. Also the airfilter is a Savage motorsaver filter. It drives pretty good...seriously it seems too fast at times with the o.s. but I'm having a bit of trouble getting the throttle and brake linkages set up correctly. Hopefully I'll get a few more runs before winter sets in properly.

That is what I run OS with prefilter and do to experience will not run the motor saver. Does not filter as well as it really only has one filter as well as some think.

I had to gear my MT WAY up when I put the OS 18 TZ in to keep the front wheels on the ground most of the time. Electric brushless is fast and instant power not like nitro where you have to get it in the power band. Yes electric for the most part is faster but sorry just does not have any solo in my opinion and much rather run nitro. Both nitro and electric have their pros and cons.

You can run anything a Savage will run but might have to make the motor mount to the chassis slots longer. I started off with 16 CB and a 52 spur but could not keep the front wheels on the ground. I am now running a 16 CB with a 47 spur if memory serves me correctly. On the MT you can run a 52, 49 or a 47 spur just like the Savage. On the CB they offer I think like 14 to 21 on the vented race HPI.

Dropping in the TZ is the easy part keeping your drive train from messing up is the hard part. What MT do you have?

RE: Official HPI MT2 Thread
You have a good start as I had to run all the SS drive train, make sure the diffs where shimmed properly, not sure what hex come with the SS but you need the metal ones and epoxy them in to the wheels. I all so had to run alloy rear diff housing to keep from stripping the final gears do to flex. I am sorry to say GPM is the only one that makes them and like all GPM parts are not the best. Now some are saying the latter SS plus kits have better diff housing can any one confirm this?
In my opinion the OS CV-RX is all the engine you need. If I had it to do over that is the engine I would get.

Good advice on the CV-RX. I am trying to keep costs down to keep the ball and chain from blowing up! The CV-RX wouldn't require the upgrades the TZ would, would it? I'm not the most technically or mechanically saavy person my criterias for purchasing is longevity/durability and cost.

Know the CV-RX will not be near as hard on the drive train but is all the power you need in a 1/10-scale stadium truck. It is all most to much. Keep in mind I have quite a few different vehicles and I just wanted one as a land rocket and is why I have a TZ in my MT. Matter of fact it is so much power it is not as much fun to drive as some of my other vehicles.

Turdbucket you must be some high school punk hiding behind his computer, my brushless truck can wheely and run 60 mph across anything with five inch tall tires, with little sissy girl tires and a regear I could be in the 80s easily. it takes a very good .18 or .21 to even hang with my brushless truck on 2s, 3s is lights out, pulling wheelies as I pass kind of thing.

RE: Official HPI MT2 Thread
Hello Folks
I've just built myself a MT2 18ss+ kit, completely standard, straight out of the box - its my first nitro.
I'm having problems getting it started to break it in. I'm using Orion Black Demon 16% Comp Fuel, it was recommended when I bought the kit.
I Primed the fuel lines by my holding finger over the exhaust and pulling the start cord a few times 'till fuel was near the carb, plugged in the glow starter (fully charged over night), set the throttle to 1/4ish open and pulled the cord many many times, it coughed into life, revved up a bit and then cut straight back out, no idling or attempt to idle. It did this twice in about 1hr of trying. It seemed to me that it was running out of fuel?
I also tried these hints that I found on the web:
It was cold when I tried it so I borrowed mothers hair dryer and warmed the engine up
Tried loosening the glow plug slightly and tried starting it
but I guessed that it wasn't normal for it to take so long to start so I stopped.
I've checked the High Speed Needle setting as per the book - correct.
Checked that the glow plug glows - It does so nice and brightly.
Could anybody shed some light on what I'm doing wrong & point me in the right direction?
Cheers
Eric

Try putting a few drops of fuel down the carb, or pull the pull start 3 times when fuel has reached the carb.
