Default Evader Differential adjustment?

What is the purpose of the differential adjustment screw? What will happen if it is too loose, or too tight? Do you adjust it differently for different types of surfaces, ie. hard packed dirt vs loose gravel?

The book tells you how to adjust it, but doesn't specify why, other then to say if it's not done right, you risk the chance for your car to break?

Thanks.

Default RE: Evader Differential adjustment?

My brother discovered if its too loose the truck will go no where. It is used to adjust for different surface conditions. The way I learned years ago was to hold the right rear tire in your right hand. Hold the spur gear with your index finger so it does not move. Then try to turn the left rear wheel. If it turns easily then the diff is loose. Keep adjusting the diff until it is impossible to turn the left wheel.
