what do servo savers help do to your car. do you recomend me buying one for my xxx-nt
and what is a failsafe
and what is a failsafe

A servo-saver is designed to absorb some of the impact on a collision that would normally damage the servo (ie hit the front wheel on something that would cause it to turn rapidly and strip the servo)
Are you sure your car doesn't already have a servo saver?
Failsafe brings your car back to a pre-set condition (usually neutral or brake on) in the event you lose radio contact, or the battery drops below a certain voltage (if your batteries get knocked off the car, it won't help, so you better get a throttle return spring). It basically prevents a runaway. These come highly recommended (mostly by folks who have had to chase down runaways)

when my crystal fell out i didnt have a throttle return spring on my xxx-nt and it went wot and hit a tree
thought about getting a fail safe but just put to springs on my throttle arm and i dont need a fail safe now
i saved $20

The springs wouldn't have saved you when you lost the crystal, the receiver went buggy and pushed the throttle wide open. I don't have enough experience to tell you whether or not a fail-safe would have prevented your crash though. I think that's what they're supposed to do, but i'm not sure if they would kick in for a lost crystal.

Yea but your servos still had power because the radio was on. When u loose the crystal it doesnt turn the radio off it looses communication.

I can't believe that a company with the reputation Losi has would ship an ST without a servo saver. You probably already have one in there.
A failsafe is a must-have. I ran an Ofna micro failsafe in my GT, and it works great. Just remember to secure your battery pack and route your wires safely around the engine, 'cause if you lose power the failsafe won't do jack for you.
If the crystal just fell out the servo was probably still getting a signal to stay at WOT. There's no TRS that could fight that, but a failsafe would probably have saved it.

Yea the Rustler says it comes with a Throttel return spring ,but i crashes into my house when the battery fell out why didn't it do anything. WHat is a good TRS. I want one or a failsafe not sure which. Maybe both. Better to spend $30 on them thab 300 on a car or even $50 for pieces + the hassle.

it dosent take a beefy spring 2 just takes 2 weaker springs
it will over power the servo when it has lost power

I use a Kyosho Mad Force TRS spring, with enough tension to overcome the unpowered servo. The servo is dual ballraced which helps, and has enough torque to overcome the spring tension with ease.
A TRS is also useful to guard againts servo power lose (broken wire, battrey pack gets smashed out in a crash, etc.).
IMO you always need to run with a TRS (set to overcome dead servo) and an intelligent failsafe.

No, the Losi doesn't come with a failsafe... not many trucks do. My RC10GT and my MGT didn't... but I added them. The failsafe will kick in if there is radio interference or if there is a drop in voltage.. not a complete loss of power. If my receiver batts get too low, then the failsafe will just make the servo go to where I programmed it to go... which is full brake.
Get a failsafe and run a throttle return spring. I had an incident where the pin came off the servo on my RC10GT, and it took off down the road (i took off the TRS because I thought it allowed the servo to move faster).. luckily i escaped with no damage, but needless to say.. I have the TRS on both cars now.. hehe

just curious, but it seems a TRS that is strong enough to move a regular servo without power would cause the servo to suck LOTS of power in normal use... (might be the reason for the spring is to compensate for the constantly dead batteries caused by the spring! [8D]

the spring in mine is just when the linkeage on either the servo or carb pops off. I would also think that a spring/s that is powerful enough to turn a servo with no power would really make it harder for the servo to turn, especially a stock servo.

If you have a fully ballraced servo, of more than standard torque (I'm actually running a mere Hitec 325HB single bearing 51oz servo), then having a TRS set up to close a dead servo at WOT works fine. Yes the servo has to work harder, but it hasn't slowed it down any (which I'm suprised at). And the battery depletion concern is really pretty inconsequential, that's like not upgrading to a more powerful steering servo because of battery life concerns.
I've never had a battery go flat whilst out bashing in any car (three in total) with a TRS set up to close the dead servo. Guess it depends how long you bash for.

Ok so with a servo with power it can over power the TRS however if the servo loses power it just goes like limp. What if the servo is to weak or the spring basically it sucks and u wasted 2 bucks?
