Default Cheap Jato ???

This is just a theory. ( So no bashing) This is meant to start discussions and theories not a flame war.

I just read in the traxxas forums that a guy called traxxes today to try to get some info. He was told they are not releasing the price till the day it drops(which he was assuered it will be in April). This guy then said that he told the traxxas employee "thats a stupid idea cause people want to know how much to save" The traxxas employee then replied "Its not stupid, its smart and soon you will know why". If this is true or not, I have no idea. I do know that Traxxas is keeping the price hush hush though. Even from the hobbyshops. Why? Well I dont know really but I have a idea.(theory)

Shock and splurge.

Just imagine the Jato comes out at a jaw-dropping $259.99. This whole time people are thinking $340 and they shock everyone with a low price. Now everyone that was on the fence about getting one, decides to buy it. People that weren't even thinking about getting it decide to buy it. If you sell twice as many you can afford to cut your profit by half. Remember its not geared towards racers, but newbs, kids, christmas presents. How many new comers to r/c or moms looking to buy junior a r/c car are gonna pick the duratrax Street force gp2 because its $100 cheaper than all its competition? LOTS. Its smart marleting and Traxxas can afford to take a risk because of its huge selling REVO. Nitro r/c or r/c in general is bigger than its ever been right now. What a way to make the Jato the #1 SELLING truck ever!

Today is a day of wierd marketing and hype value. Look at Halo 2. What a hype campaign, and it worked. People were lined up around malls across the country at midnight in the freezing cold just to play it a few hours sooner.(I know, I was there, and Im a grown man with a family)

Anyhow, its just a theory. Not even so much a theory but more like a "what I would do if I was Traxxas". Maybe just a bad case of wishfull thinking. Who knows.

But if Im right, then you heard it here first. If Im wrong just forget I even said anything.[8D]

What are your ideas?

Please remember this is not a " The Jato will suck" thread. If you dont car for traxxas or are sick of hearing about the Jato, I understand your pain. So I dont need to hear about it.

Peace
TrickSligger

I'll have to see it to believe it... Wouldn't be a bad idea on their part, but to me, it just doesn't sound like traxxas...

I think that Traxxas has a savvy marketing department, and this could happen. Look at the roll they are on, they sure have change the view of being a !QUOT!toy car manufacture!QUOT! to being a major force in the RC hobby. Looking at all of the after market offering for Traxxas products proves my point.

If the initial price of a JATO is 259.99 or anywhere close... I would buy it in a heartbeat. And this is coming from someone who doesn't want a JATO and in actuality thinks their marketing campaign has been made up of unfair comparisons.

I'd snag the truck in a heart beat... it'd be worth every penny at $250-260

that makes seance that they got so much heap about the jato that when its cheap every one will go for it and that means the evader will have competition between traxxas because there the same price but this will come down to if traxxas can survive untill they bring sales back up what do you think???

i agree with you, if it were that low i would get it even though i dotn want it

but ur talking about traxxas and the rustler is still 300 dollars or whatever it is...so why would a new truck be under 300 if it is soo much bette rthan the ruistler...i am guessing u will see prices around 375 or more....just my 2 cents tho

u got a point. if the rusler is that high then the jato must be higher but if there crowd there selling it to is noobs trying to get into the sport then it might be cheaper but it is a better car than the rusler

i think the only way the jato will be under 350 is if taxxas eitehr discontinues or lowers the price of the nitro rustler

I think its safe to bet that the rustler price will drop a bit with the release of a newer and better truck.

hmm funny but this seems like a great way to market such an anticipated product... if your theory is correct id be so buying one and i was leaning towards not getting one and just buying a buggy but not if its this price... will be interesting to see what traxxas does

i just read an article in x-treme R/C cars magzine and they had 3 employees test out the truck. they really liked the suspension and they said the a-arms were suprisingly bulky! There are also some mud guards or something like that they said were really cool on the chasis. they said that it was surprisingly more like a basher than anything and the suspension is awesome. cant wait to get mine!
