Are you using locknuts on the wheels? I've never had a problem with mine coming off or even getting loose. Loctite should be ok though, just be sure that you don't use the permanent stuff and keep it out of the bearing.

just buy a new lock nut (cheap b@st$%ds) why waste thread lock on something that you take off so often. dont macgyver it, save yourself some money and just go down to your local hardware store and spend maybe a buck and a half and just buy new lock nuts.

leme guess. its only a problem on the right side? (or left forget which) on tower i tink theres a part that is reverse threaded to stop this from happening. little bit of locktite (blue) should do any harmm..just be careful..i used red and it was HARD to take off. i had to use a vice and still had trouble.

In R/C you NEVER EVER EVER NEVER EVER need to use RED LOCTITE! I cant say this enough. Its for things in engines (in 1/1 vehicles) that never need to come apart again.
Blue is the only stuff you need to use!

we didnt have any fo the blue stuff. it wasnt my idea either nor did i know better, and going out to get loctite wasnt an option then..well..i guess i learned my lesson.
now why should someone buy new nuts when they can loctite the nut? its not like you take your wheels off to look at eh axles every tank so its no big deal. and if ya havent noticed, nuts cost money. all the money that you spend on nuts which you dont need could goto something like a new clutch which you DO need (whenthe time comes). i dunno bout u but im not made of money, so ive learned to use things forever. but if you just buy new nuts everytime, thats ur money not mine. so..i dont care heheh.(

think about it, loctite costs alot more than a new lock nut does and you can reuse the lock-nut. can you reuse the coating of loctite? ummmm, no. im just saying that it isnt the most cost effective and eventually you will have to take the time to strip all that off of there or the loctite wont work anyway. and you will probably strip the treads before you get there so throw in new axles or spindles($$$). big difference between dollars and cents, ill go with common sense and cents

im a wee bit confused now. yes, of course locknuts are better than using loctite. i thought we (or he) were talking about worn out lock nuts...actually i forget what i was thinking...but anyway, as far as i know, loctite cost about 5-10 bucks, and can last a long time if you use it wisely and dont over due things and use it when its not necesary. now..what I would do is instead of taking off the locknut material stuff that makes a lock nut a lock nut, id just put a drop of thread lock on the axle and put he nut on as is..can KINDA use it again..but i get your point..i thought you meant buy a new nut everytime one starts to come off which if i think is because of the side the nut is on, then that would get ppretty pricey after a week. ah well.......oh yea, and for me, a set of nuts costs i think about 5 bucks..yea....overpriced hobby shop..

I guess you have never tried to take red loctite apart my friend. It will give you a hernia! That stuff is so strong it snaps bolts up to 1/4" with ease cause it locks so well. Its made for large heavy duty things that you can use a pnuematic impact wrench. Even the box says "for permanant use only"
so unless you plan on never taking your truck apart again.............use red loctite.
Also on the CVD front. You dont need to use red loctite on that either! Just use a peice of shrink wrap on the bell. I did that and it works great. Then I bought the racers edge CVD booties which are even better! It keeps alll the crap out of my CVD's! I took them apart to service them (clean and re-pack with grease) and they didnt even need it!
Also the thread-lock MIP gives is junk. Use the permatex stuff or loctite brand.
