the o.s.12tz is a direct drop you just have to take the motor mount spacers off and slot the crank for a e-clip. And i'll bust a 3.3 ass.
got vid with a radar?

just kinda curious cause i run against my buddies in top speed runs.....

Hey guys what fuel are you running in your trx 3.3? I am getting a new engine and am wondering whether to use 25% nitro, I used 16% and it went OK but that engine's dead now so time for a new one... whats your recommendation? 16% or 25%?

how about 20% i've never heard of anyone using 16% that might have mucked up your engine.

I was thinking about getting the same engine fro my jato. Is that a pullstart or how exactly does it work? I have never seen that. Also what header? I was also thinking about a Buku pipe along with the 12TZ?

You need a bump starter box to start this engine and i just used a LHS exhaust. You have to remove the motor mount shims or use a different bigger flywheel.

I also have a 12 TZ for my jato. I just wanted 2 know what flywheel do I need 2 make it fit and lock nut do I need. I see you said I would need 2 slot the crank 4 the e-clip. I noticed the front of the crank has some threads. would it work if I found a small enough screw and screw it in the front of the crank 2 hold it all on. What bumpstart will work?

I used the 3.3 flywheel and used washers to shem up the flywheel nut. I used a dremmel to make the slots on the crank because you may have to cut the crank to use a bolt at the end to hold the bearing and the bell.

Just shim it with a spacer. Much cleaner install.

I use this starter box..has two 550 motors and the front LCD panel w/12 cell battery included.

If you upgrade to a 3 shoe flywheel, with tighter springs, acceleration will be even better.

There should not be any play if you use the collet. Just silde the flywheel back as far as it will go over the collet and secure it with a .12/.15 clutch nut.

OK take a look at the picture I posted. See the end of the shaft has a Jato front wheel spacer in front of the CB. The spacer is much lighter and as wide as three for 4 shims and fits the shaft perfectly....no play. Then just use a shaft screw from a shim kit to hold everything in place.

I use the HPI but any 3 shoe clutch and shoes will be fine. This will allow you to stall the clutch higher by using diff. weight springs. The .12 has mad mid-range and top end, but it makes it power much higher into the rpm range when other engines stop pulling.

By the process stated in the manual. Make sure it gets up to 200 degrees.

I'd go by what the manual says. If something's wrong with your engine and you call traxxas they probably won't help you if you didn't break it in according to the manual. Also it is clearly stated exactly what you have to do instead of the other somewhat vague methods out there.

devo208,

What gearing you running with the .12TZ. I'm running 22/58 with my JLR .12 and crazy top end, pretty good acceleration. Haven't tried anything lower yet.

Well my motor finally threw a rod. It seems the top bushing on the crank just wore completely away and then the crank snapped down the middle and punched a hole in the piston. Piston was clean and was still real tight. I got this second hand so no telling how old it is. I always ran it kinda rich on 15% fuel with 18% oil. Case, crank and all look good and will rebuild but my question is what con rod.? I don't want to use the stock one again as they are really light weight stuff. Davis models makes a heavy duty one at Tower and I was wondering if any other makers make a good rod for these 3.3 motors?

So you getting high 60's with that gearing? Is so great job. I got consistent 64/65 just under the quart mark with 22/58. The engine has a lot left, but will have to wait till spring to get more tanks in.

How does the 20 tooth impact top end...I know it has to be a beast outta the whole.

I know there's probly a answer all ready here on this thread but im too lazy to look though all the posts.
What im wondering is, is there hex (12mm) adapters to fit onto the front of my jato 2wd or can i convert it ie what parts would i need, to convert it to use 4wd wheels.
