Default Jato overheating

I finally fixed all of my probs on the Jato except one. It's already broken in also. It keeps overheating to like 300 degrees! Now I know this is a sign of too lean so I rich it up like 1/8 on the HSN. Keeps overheating. I did the pinch test a couple times and it just keeps dying without revving up the slightest bit. I am now afraid to turn it anymore. I turned it like a fourth of a turn in all. Is it the HSN that I'm supposed to be turning or the LSN? I just turn the HSN. Never touched the LSN... This problem is WiErD...[X(]

hmm....It actually might be because I had to prime my fuel for a little longer than usual. OH! And the motor was making this very wierd noise. I'm serious when I say it sounded like Chewbacca from star wars.

wow hold on, you said you are turning it in?!?!?!??!?! NO NO NO!!!!!!!!!!!!! your suppose to turn it out like you are unscrewing a screw, HSN(fuel line plugs into) controls how much fuel goes into the the carb, the LSN(on the throttle body, near teh throttle linkage) controls how much fuel the carb puts into the engine, it also could be running backwards, check your one way bearing and ez-start motor connections, one of those could be on backwards, the weird engine sound is from running backwards most likely, unless you didnt break it in properly

Your engine will run hotter than 'normal' for the first 1/2 to 3/4 of a gallon of fuel. If it runs hot, give it more fuel....If it still runs hot, give it more fuel. If nothing you do seems to help, then I would look at getting a replacement engine.(warranty)
If it isn't a tuning issue, then it could be defective. I would instist on a new engine, not just a carb, if that is what they say is wrong. If the carb is bad, then your engine is bad, now, from breaking it in with a bad carb.

or....it could be just the plug, or a cracked fuel line, im pretty sure it isnt the engine itself, it could be the carb, which you could still replce it for free if you call traxxas and explain everything they will just send you a new one with an o-ring, the carb, and instructions on how to install it, and you will just have to send the defective one back, and thanks mgtman

ok....I didn't say I don't think I said I turned it in...Sorry if I did say that, but I was turnin it out. And Even though the engine should run a bit hot, I don't think it should be going to the 300's....Which it did. I don't know if it's defective or not. I can't run it today cuz it's raining...LoL...raining on x-mas day. But I will run it a bit, try to turn it out some more, do anything I can to get it to cool off. If I can't get it running correctly,.....ummm.....would Traxxas give me a whole new engine or just the carb??

Not. Racers sometimes go as high as 260, but to be on the safe side a good bashing temp is in teh 240-250F range.

Are you a idiot? 300 isn't anywhere near fine, nice advice if you wanna toast your engine's in less than 2 tanks. Dumb n00b.
