When I had my stock motor on I messed with the mesh all the time. Never shredded a spur. Today I bought the thing at 5:00 started running it at 6:00 and it shredded at 6:01.

If you are eating up spur gears either you have a problem or are not setting the mesh properly. I have the same spur gear on all my nitro’s including my Savage for many gallons. Do not know if they make a metal one for your truck but if you have something wrong or do not set the mesh properly it may last longer but there will still be problems in the long run.

try loosening the slipper if the xxxnt has one, that could help with the stripping, spur gears dont just strip that easily, i havent stripped mine in like 6 years and still going

no doubt in my mind, your spur gear mesh is bad or more then likely your clutchbell bearing are shot. I would check the bearings on the clutchbell, then if those are fine, set the spur gear so that is is almost at a slight grinding point. You just want the mesh to click. Hard to explain. Then tighten the crap out of your engine mounts so the engine can't move. Guaranteed fix!
