Traxxas has a web site with all the manuals and exploded views.................all you have to do is pull the engine and remove the clutch bell [8D]

You got a bad one. Usually the clutches need to be worn pretty hard to get the spring broken. You should be okay once the replacement is put on.

i had my slayer for two days before i busted my clutch shoes, ive replaced them with mip clutch shoes. when it broke it was the actual shoe, my springs were fine. something i hadnt seen before. but the mip seem to be holding up fine. my new clutch shoes have a second mounting hole, for tuning your clutch.

Well at least you found that the spring and shoes were broken, was going to let you know thats what happened to mine also. Mine also had the same problem for it not starting. What it turned out to be was the blue wire for the glow plug was bad so I just started using a glow ignitor untill I got around to replacing the wire. Hope this helps you.
