I'm currently using the Thunderpower Gen 2 Lite's. Two 5S3P 6000 mah packs wired in series for a total of 10S3P. I now have over 45 flights on one pair of these packs with no problems. They weigh 45 ounces.

This powering my PL Partner with a Hacker C50 14XL Acro, Hacker master 90 controller, APC 22-12E prop. The timing is set to +3 degrees. This is making extrremely good power.

My Partner now has over 400 flights, all electric.

R. Montiel:
I've also the same configuration as Tony, but with a Master 77 Opto ESC, and it works ok. My plane is an Inpact.

Tony:
Why you are using the MAS90? Any advantage ?

I'm curious as to how many packs you've used to get to 400 flights? TPpacks is listing their 5s3p packs at 570gms, that would make a 10s setup at 40oz. Must just be the weight of the cells without shrink or wiring.

The Master 90 is a much better design controller. With the single PC board and the large heat sink, it barely gets warm during a flight. The 77 is 4 boards stacked and heat shrunk. It got a lot warmer during a flight. Also, if there is any issue with a motor pulling excessive current, the 77 does not have enough reserve. I had two 77's fail.

I started flying with older TP cells in a 4P configuration. When TP came out with the first Gen 2 packs, I did have two or three packs get a puffed cell. TP replaced them with the Gen 2 Lites. I have yet to have a problem with these packs. The pack with the most cycles is one of the original 4P packs, with about 100 cycles. I don't fly the 4P configuration in the Partner anymore, it is quite a bit heavier. The most I have on a Gen 2 Lite is about 60. Time will tell on the pack life, but so far the Gen 2 Lites are showing no signs of problems. As to weight, the Gen 2 Lites in a configuration of two 5S3P sticks taped together with the velcro on the bottom for mounting and the Deans connector have all weighed between 44 and 45 ounces.

Hi Tony

My configuration is:
Composite ARF Impact with Hacker C50 14XL Acro (timing set to +3 degrees), Hacker master 77 controller, APC 22-12E prop, and 10S3P TP6000mAh GEN2 Yellow stripe Lipo packs.
The 10S3P TP6000mAh GEN2 Yellow stripe Lipo packs have about 48.85 oz (1385gr) - too heavy.
The all complete set has 11.50 lb.
I've now 14 cycles in one set of packs.
After a P05 flight ( 6 ... 7 min. ) the temperatures are the following:
Motor: between 51ºC ( 123ºF) and 60ºC (140ºF)
Master 77: 40ºC (104ºF) - (curious ?!)
Lipo pack (measured on the top back part): between 41ºC (106ºF) and 47ºC (117ºF)

Have you any figures from your experience with your equipment, please?

What are your filling comparing the Gen2 Yellow stripe and the Gen2 Lites (grey stripe)?

Thank you for your answers!!!

Tony, have you ever tested the Polyquest Li-poly batteries??
There is a PolyQuest 2600 mah li-poly cell (16C peak) that I think could be interesting for F3A in 10S2P configuration, what do you thing about it?

Hi,

I am using LMT - Lehner setup in ZNLine Synergy.

I think the battery selection is based on the plane and personal requirements. If the plane is heavy or you prefer flying with power you will need battery that can deliver a lot of current with high voltage to have enough power.

If the plane is very light then you are able to use smaller C-rated and capasity cells because light plane does not need so much total energy to complete the schedule than heavy plane.

Based on that I am using Kokam 2000mAh cells as 10s2p, the pack weight is 1100g.
Motor is 2230/15+superchief gearbox 6:1
Prop is 17.4*12 RASA turning 7500rpm on ground with 69A.
Plane weight is 4450g.
P-05 schedule will consume around 3300-3400mAh which was unusually high. After that the motor+gearbox went to service and they found faulty bearing in the motor which was replaced with no additional cost. I expect that after the service the consumed capasity will be lower and prop RPM to be higher or current lower. After flight the battery temperature is lower than hand warm.
