Default *3D Quest .90*

Anyone flying the new "3D Quest G2 ARF". The info says it will fly FAI with the best of them. I was thinking of an OS 1.08 on the business end. Anyone know of another place this plane can be purchased? I think $249.95 for the kit and $34.99 shipping is a little high for this plane.

Zippi, let us know what you decide on.

I'm also looking at this plane and am wondering if it's OK for higher speed pattern flying or whether she's going to fly to bits on the first high speed pass.

Another thought.

Before you put down your money you should be assured that replacement parts are on hand. I have been waiting for months for a left carbon fiber strut from another importer. In our last correspondence I was offered a discount on a replacement kit as no spares were available and the owner wouldn't break up a kit. Thats not all bad, that way I would have spares of everything except a left strut!

Let the buyer beware.

The ULTRA-RC guys made sure that they had plenty of spares for the Quest-2. I already used some on my Quest-1. I had fitted so many different engines that I needed to replace my "swiss-cheese" cowl. The new version of this plane uses Ultracote so you can repair and upgrade the color scheme a lot easier.

The Quest-2 came out lighter than the Quest-1 and mine is only using a YS 91. (The 110 was hard to get at the time). I still can go up like a space shuttle. The plane has two identities depending upon what throws you chose to use. Go for the max elevator on the double bevel control surface and you can 3-D your brains out.

Tame the beast with pattern throws and you have a really cheap pattern plane. It makes me brave and has led me into trying much lower and very slow one-roll circles and the like.

Regards,

Eric.

I e-mailed Ultra RC and ask them about high speed passes and I was told that they are being flown in FAI at speeds over 100 mph. As for the spare parts, it is listed on their web site and everything is available. I am planning on installing an OS 1.08 on the business end and I love making high speed inverted low passes If anyone else has any input on this plane I would sure love to hear it. I would like to know if there is someone else selling the plane other than Ultra RC?

I had a throttle linkage come off my YS1.40 in a Quest. It flew for 11 minutes and 42 seconds at full throttle. Never once threatened to come apart.

Regards,

Eric.

What engine are you running on yours jetmech43? How was the build? The pic of the kits shows a lot of loose wood so it looks like a little more than a normal ARF. Hows the quality?

I have a ST 90, no not alot of loose wood had it ready to fly in about 12 hours, just join the wing mount the stab, and install radio gear, only mods I did was mount 2 elevator servos under the wing, and ran carbon fiber push rods to the elevators

Would Hitec High Torque HS-635HB servos be strong enough for all the control surfaces? How many and what length servo extentions are required? Would a simple "Y" harness work for the two servos in the rear for the elevator or does one need to be reversed?

Hi Guys
Are you fitting the Fuel Tank in the forward bay or the wing set area? For better CG control or does it not matter.

This plane is listed as having 1000 sq in wing area. Is that right??? I'm also looking at a Wild Hare 25% Edge 540 that has 1090 sq in wing area and looks to be a much bigger plane with a wing span of 73" and weighs 11-11.5 lbs. Anyone have a pic of your plane with someone standing next to it so we can see the size of the plane?

I have my tank in the stock location guess you could put it at the CG, I think the CG is wrong on the instructions, I had to put about 10oz of lead in the tank area to get it to balance at 165mm, flew like a dog, flies great since I took all the weight out, not sure what it balances at now, if aint broke dont fix it, Zippi 69 by 69 guess you could use a tape measure to give you an idea of its size

I just like to see a pic of someone holding a plane to get a better look at the size and bulk of the plane. I watched both video's, one was the old Pink and white and the other was the new one with the shorter wingspan and the fuse looks really narrow. As soon as I sell my BB profile plane and the Saito .82 I'll be ordering it.

1000 in2 sounds a bit high to me too. I had a Quest 1. I would guess it was about 900 squares.

I was looking at the new JR ST125 servos. They have 125 oz of torque at 4.8 with metal gears. It would be overkill but for $33.00, I can't pass it up. You guys think the OS .91FX would have unlimited vertical on this plane. Can't make up my mine on the .91 or the 1.08.

I called Ultra RC Three times on two different days and no reply. I left a message and a call back number and I even emailed them. I was trying to order the 3D Quest but I could not get ahold of anyone. This is not a very good way to run a business. Has anyone ever tried ordering anything from them? Just wondering whats going on.

Zippi, My experience has been the same as yours, I emailed them 2 weeks ago and recieved no reply. A few days later, I called and left a message. They did not return my call. I wanted to order the 3D Quest and I simply wanted to know if they had it in stock. The website does not give the stock status. After this experience, I'm not sure if I want to do business with them.........RS

Are you guys sending your emails to: [email protected] ? The phone lines are very busy, and we are predominantly an on-line company. You can always reach us at this email address. In regards to the Quest, it is in stock, but we have a very limited quantity. We will not have a new shipment of Quest until Spring of next year. Please email me or PM me with any additional questions.

Sincerely,

Ultra-RC
