Thanks guys

Finally I get to fly it this morning.... I used 16-12 apc prop with 160DZ, my CG sets at 7.5 inc from the front ends with a little bit nose drop which I added 650g. at the nose, the total weight without fuel is 4.7 kg. (include 5 cells 6v. battery)
The first flight went pretty smooth and had just 2 clicks of down elevator, one click on the left aileron and 1 or 2 clicks on the right rudder. After the flight trimming I turn around and try tracking with some slow roll, 4 point roll and knife edge. I must say it rolls quite axel and very smooth but I hadn't got enough rudder for the knife edge flight, so i though i will have to add more on my 2nd flight. It tracking very well with 20 degree cross wind and the wind speed is around 13kph., fly slow and solid which i must say i am impressed with its performance with the DZ. The firs flight went pretty good until the cowling came loose and nearly fall off, so I landed before it fall off somewhere on the club field.

I got her up for the 2nd flight without cowling but i can't actually report the 2nd flight out cus I put the weighting on the cowling and the cg. has changed without putting it on. It was just more like to keeping it flus to running my DZ. However, I've got the cowling fixed just now and ready to fly again tomorrow for further flight report.

I m quite happy in its performance for the time being event thought it was just a little short first flight. hope everything will be ok tomorrow.

Hi PatternPilot

The weight of the kit only is the the only thing i didn't know about this plane cus i did't weight everything before put it in together. Somehow, the total weight I got after finishing is 4.7 KG with 6 v. battery. I think you can just give them a call or e-mail them for the wight of the kit.

Hi! Normally, the stab should be set at 0* and the wing at +.5*. I suugest you start with the stab at 0*.

Per Jayjay's suggestion, 0 stab, +.25 to .5 wing should be a good starting point. Even though, it's a one piece wing, you can always shim the leading edge's wing saddle.

Start with 0 on the stab and adjust from there. Since the wing can't be adjusted, just set the stab between -.25 to -.5* relative to the wing and start from there. I met Chuchat, the designer of the Beam and have seen him fly both the older version and the version you have. He flies it pretty well so it should be a ok plane.

Yes, that was me. I bought an Astral XX and used it for the 2006 CAOCC. I am now flying an Oxai Aries for 2008 CAOCC in Taiwan. Will you be there?

I have had the same problem with my 170DZ. After discution on the French F3A forum papaone and Mr Carrier could help me. Thanks to them.
The solution is quite simple.
* Open your high end at 2.5turn.
* Close 2 turn clockwise the reg (from the factory setting) (I have take the motor out of the box and give two turn clockwise)
After it start your engine. If he don't work close more the reg. After it you can adjust with the high end.
I hope it could help you?
regards.

fifou313 , thanks for the reply . as you meantion close 2 turn clockwise the reg (from the factory setting) , this will richen more the low end ??

As the instruction menu say , the reg turn cw is rish , turn ccw will lean out the low end ....! Do you mean screw it in or open out ...??

Hello Huison.
For my part (I think it's the same problem for all the 170DZ just outside the factory) my moter was very very lean and I couldn't pass the 1/3 gaz without amazing vibration and danger.. (one time the propeller has been unscrew from the engine...)
So Mr Carrier and Papaone from the forum explain me that the motor was too lean and I must turn the screw clockwise and open the turn end.
After it I have try this advise screwing the reg 2 turn(before it I haven't touch to the factory setting so I have put 2 turn more than the factory setting) and open the turn end at 2.5 turn (from the totally closed). my screw reg is 1.5mm inside the end of the reg.
For my part The YS with myoil mix work perfectly but I think for the cool power you can test for a first test to give only 1 turn to the reg.
I hope could you.
Don't hesitate to contact me by MP or email.
Regards.
