Looks like the designer pushed the "stretch rear fuselage enough to look like a fish" button in his CAD program.... must be nice in crosswinds?

When i was in Thailand i saw the prototype flu in action, it went prity good and solid, and looks like it remain tracking quite easy. dont know yet about cross wind. But from that day the plane changed its body a bit as you can see from the last picture. Thinking he may change something plus the little fin on top. Ordering one for myself....

I would be surprised if that model went in any direction other than straight with all that rear fuz area. I'm ranking it right up there with the Matt's Onyx and that god awful Loaded Dice for "good looks".

Well...all i know after i gave them a call is that the whole plane is made from wood and balsa covered with film, one piece wing with adjustable and removable stab. The body of the plane had changed a bit which they moved canopy forward and reduce its size plus a little fin from the top. The main fin shape has changed and the whole body of the plane is some how narrower down a bit. The plane is not mass production, they made it to order...
here is some details about this plane

Length : 1.99 M.
Wing length : 1.88 M.
wing span : 62.15 Sq. Dm.
Engine : 1.40-1.60 (4 Stroke)
OR : HACKER C50 14 XL Gear 6.7 :1
Battery : Li poly 5S4p x 2 packs = 37 Volts.
Prop size 16x14 For YS 1.40-1.60
4-channel 5-Servo (Throttle-1, Elevator-1, Rudder-1, Aileron-2)
Carbon fiber Landing gear, Tail wheel + Control horn and basic accessories

I also post a pix of their latest version....

I e-mailed them: They have none, and have no plans for a US distributor.

I was in Thailand last month to judge an Asian pattern contest and saw several of these planes fly first hand. I never got to fly any of them though I did get to try out an Xtreme composite Astral XX and it was awsome. My impression of the Beam from a judges perspective is that it flies great and presents very well in no wind up to a mild crosswind. In stronger winds, it seemed a bit more difficult to fly. I can't be sure, not having flown it, but that's just what I perceived. However, it sure is great value for money at about $700 for an ARF.

It reminds me of Hatta's Explorer from a few years back, one huge looking fish.

The designers name is CHUCAHRT SUKHUMCHAREONCHIT. That explains all the area on the fuse. It's so he can get his name on the billboard. Mike

Good one Jeff. I had a Balsa Nova. What a great machine. I really miss it. I actually like this plane. I'd like to see one fly. Mike
