Default Do I have a problem??

Guys,

Ordered my C50 14XL 6.7:1 and was chuffed to see it had arrived today!

Opened the box and realised it was a 13XL 6.7:1 [&o]

I don't really understand all the windings/numbers etc - I just wanted 'the' motor than many pattern guys are using successfully!

So, should I get it changed or is it not really an issue? Can anyone explain how it would differ in the real world to the 14XL?

Thanks,
Mark

13XL will give you a higher rpm, it's a higher kv motor. Amps will also be higher with same prop compared to 14xl. Usually spin a smaller prop (20" I think) then the 14xl. It's a viable motor for pattern.

I am running the 13 XL with the APC 20 x 13E prop and it is a great combo
Chip ran the 14 XL with the APC 20 x 15E prop.
From what I understand with the 14 XL you can run a bigger prop

13XL and an APC 22x12E prop OK then for a start in F3A?

22x12 E seems to fit best to the 14XL. I would recommend to use a smaller prop.

If you use the 22x12 with the 13XL, your amp draw will be very high and the motor will run at a higher temperature.
If I were you, I would use the 13XL with the 20x13. This combo does make your plane fly a little bit faster than with the 14XL/22x12.

Mark.
See Hackers home site:
http://www.hacker-motor.com/deutsch/

(Look under "Limited Edition, Neuer Antrieb)
This is for the new Competition motor, but as far as I understand, the recommended propeller would be similar for the standard C50.
i.e 20x13E for the 13XL, and 21x13WE or 22x12E for the 14XL.
The way I see it, is that you have to decide on which flying style you want. The 14 will fly slower, but go like a tractor on first gear uphill, while the 13 will be more groovy.
I have used the 12XL with a 19x12E, and that worked well too, so I am sure that the 13 will be good.

Thanks guys,

Will swap the 22x12 for a 20x13!
