Default RE: Ultra Rc Evolution

well I guess I am feeling a bit screwed by the system here...

UPS tells me it's going to take 7-10 busness days to process the claim and since it took a week to get the plane from Brian - it's looking like it might be something like 17 days for me to get a replacement....

Brian was quick to respond last night to my emergency email, but I've emailed and called him this morning and still no reply....

I know it's not Brian fault because he did ship this thing to me asap. At the time he didthe best he could.

but it not really my fault either, and my money is spent,

I just feel like I have some kind of ARF curse...

at this point it's looking like I may not have a plane in time for the Knoxville meet in a couple weeks....

it's sad because I really like the plane and really want to fly it.....

I think URC might have a winner here by the looks of it so far....

but anyhow, agghhhghghghhhhhghghghghghhgghghhhhhhsaaaaaaa

My Ups guy is also a customer and friend of mine. I was doing some work at his rental house on Saturday and I mentioned to him that I have two kits coming this thursday (now rescheduled for thursday courtesy of ups) that are quite large and he told me I would be lucky if they didn't get broke in his truck. He said basically that large items like these are hard to work around all day as I am one of the last stops he has. Obviously he will try to be carefull with mine, but I will probably take off Friday morning from work and go pick them up from him.
Looking forward to getting them, well sort of. I dislike these ups horror stories.

patternflyer...

I can't believe this guy a supposed friend told you that - that you would be lucky if your planes survive the truck ride in his own truck....

your doing work for him in his rental house - it would be like ya, I'll do some work in your house - but if your lucky I won't drive my truck through it first..... ***

Okay - UPS is a shipping company - their job is to deliver packages - is delivering them undamaged a lot to ask - considering this attitude you got from your "friend" I guess it is a lot to ask.....

dude - good luck - you can see a boot footprint on the side of my box - it looks like someone stood on the box - causing the whole thing to crush... I'll get a picture of it tonight.

on a side note, Brian is jumping through the hoops to send me a new plane - he is promising it friday - with the way my luck has been - I'll get it next tuesday with the box ripped in half......

thanks for trying Brian - maybe you need to look for a new shipper : )

I wonder if shipping via busline is an option.
There is a guy I sometimes fly with that buys outsized planes here on RCU.
The come by bus and has never had a problem.
Handled by hand by the driver at each bus change.
Just a thought.

Yeah, I understand if you don't believe what I said. You don't know me..
I have no reason to make it up. I happen to know him through doing work on his homes, that's all. I wasn't trying to knock ups as I use them all the time. Don't get me wrong here.
I wasn't trying to say everything gets damaged through them as I have never had a problem except for the dell computer I just got delivered, the box was all tore up. Nothing damaged though. When he got it out of the truck, his door wasn't quite big enough so he had to be a little rough with it. I saw as I was in the garage working on a plane.
Have you ever witnessed them throw a smaller package onto a porch? Not overhand but underhand. I have a few times, I was quite suprised.
I'm not sure if I'm misreading your tone in your post, but, if you can put a little faith in what I said, it's true.
He said the big tall packages (and I have 2) are hard for him to put anywhere in the truck. Therefore they get moved around all day as I am one of his last stops. He said having two would be awkward to work around but that he will do his best.
I'm sure all shipping companies have this problem, not just big brown.
I only ever shipped one 2m pattern ship and used dhl. Great success. And cheaper than greyhound. Although I built a 100 dollar (extremely heavy crate.
Coast to coast for 65 bucks.
Sorry to hear about your plane though!! Glad your new one will be there soon..

You guys are starting to push my buttons!
[>:]
UPS showed me a heck of a lot during their strike in the late '90s.
The folks that stayed on trully didn't give a darn...at least the ones I dealt with and I saw them a couple times a day where I worked.
Also they have a policy regarding certain items that they will ship Next Day only.
You know why?
Because of the nature of the items there is a high probability that THEIR employees will steal them so you pay the overnight premium!
I "vote with my feet" whenever I can and use alternative carriers.
Even if there is a difference in cost it is usually small and I figure it's cheaper in the long run.
There!
Rant off!

yea show it to him, it will be interesting to hear this explanation...

in my other pictures you can see that from that foot print it crushed that entire side and corner - right over where the fuse sits, there is also another foot print near the top corner.

Chris I took your entire story to heart....

And personally I do a lot of UPS and USPS shipping and the UPS has the worst record with me.

oh, don't tell the ups guy who put that picture up, I still have another one coming : )

I hope Brian ain't paying for all this damage....

You seeing this Brian?

Handglider,
When I said you were pushing my buttons I meant all this is causing me to "flashback" and relive all MY bad UPS experiences....and I've had more than I wish to remember.
I trully sympathize with you.
What makes it so bad is when the perception is they don't care and...
Perception IS reality!!
Good luck!

Well, from my experience, UPS is about the worst as far as getting stuff somewhere in one piece. And they aren't all that cheap unless you have some really discounted business account.

I use Fed Ex for everything I ship in the US, and so far nothing has been damaged. I have even shipped a couple fuselage crutches and they arrived intact.

Man, I'd be SOOOOOO POd if I got a box like that. Heck I doubt our UPS guy would even leave it, he'd know I'd be flipping out.

Freakin footprint.....jeez.

Since we are on about UPS, add extortion to the list. If I ship something here (Canada) from the US, they will charge a "brokerage fee" to deal with customs. So far, it has averaged about $35-$40 for items under $100 in value. The fee goes up with the value of the item, too. I thought all the couriers were similar in this respect until I had a $400 motorcycle alarm shipped to me recently via FedEx. Their brokerage fee? $7.00 From what I have seen and experiences of friends, UPS is the WORST choice there is to ship anything, anywhere, anytime.
