t.e. thikness

I have heard from a friend that was at the european pattern in lucerna that all the planes had an extremely thick (up to 8mm at the root) trailing edge on wings can someone explain why?

It's up to you. It seems CPLR just trimed 15mm of the trailing edge of his wing!
I believe you can get a simliar effect by sticking a 8mm strip of thing ply to you existing TE's. Certainly the rudder.

OMG that is the thickest rudder I've ever seen!
BUT that's is a fishtail Rudder which is different to a flat te rudder. It kicks out at the T.E. and I assume stops fishtailing. I was messing with on some aircraft I had that had fishtailing problems.
Apparently the fibreclassics E 330L had a big problem with fishtailing, and could be fixed with a strip of fuel tubing glued to the TE of the rudder.
How about that!

I think the first time this sort of section was used was on the old supermarine jets, namely the attacker, it seems to re-energise the airflow off the tail and "centres" the plane somewhat.
of course I could be wrong. :S

How is the new life? Interesting contrast in thickness on that plane too! One of the thinnest I a have ever seen.
