Oxai Zeque Glow Powered

A photo of 30% of the world's Zeque's at the recent Midwest Judging Seminar held in Chicago Saturday, May 12. The event was organized by NSRCA DVP Chris Moon and USA F3A "Team Representative" Mike Mueller. The photo shows Rusty and Doc's YS DZ 1.60 powered models with Chris's Axi powered model. We are all very pleased with the unusually fine flying models.

I finally have had the opportunity to fly airplane since my return from Phoenix. With a total of (9) personal flights I can say that this is a remarkable model.

See you at the NATS...

www.oxai-rc.com

has photos and the info.

They are imported and sold via Central Hobbies....Call Mandi and order it. She can take a deposit.

There are currently none in stock and they will likely be getting some around October time frame. The factory is working on building models and other new designs right now.

There is also a new version of the Beryll which is Glow powered being completed for W + R Matt as the Beryll now is Electric only. The new Glow Beryll is a whole new design fuse. This model should be done for the Worlds.

Then of course Quique's new model is now being built by Oxai and should be available in October to November time frame. Depending on how things go.

A few corrections to Troy's post above.

Onvaco USA, Inc. is the North American importer and distributor for all Oxai models. We operate under Oxai.US. (Note: Our web site is in dire need of updating. The only thing correct is the contact information.)

The models are available through Central Hobbies or directly from us. We drop ship for Central so they do not have any inventory there. The price is the same either way.

We have an order of models shipping on June 10th. We allow 4 weeks for freight and customs clearance so they should be here early July.

If you want something now is the time to call Certral or me and we can probably include it in this coming shipment.

Zeque Build Glow Powered

Three minutes before disaster...

The photos show the Zeque started for Round (6) and then the remaining photos show and are testament to the models strength and design excellence to SURVIVE the mid-air.

The model is surprisingly stiff and can be repaired quite easily...the paint is another story...

Bryan,

Fantastic offer my friend! The reconstruction will be very straight forward. The paint will be a challenge...except for you! I am considering selling as is, without the servos, pipe, motor but with all of the doo dah's for $2,250...

I wonder what Bryan considers a "nominal" fee?

Man, I can't believe you landed that thing....

I still can't believe how many mid-airs are reported from USA comps. The only one I've ever seen over here was years ago, and even then it involved a straying pylon racer at our Nats.
However do you lot manage so many???

Jez Berusty, that's just sick. Real bad news... I'm sorry for you.
Still, look on the bright side, you have several other models to choose from.
That glow powered Beryll looks simply stunning.
Even I have to admit that the once, great, Zeque was starting to look a little long in the tooth.
OK, so it's only a few months old... but things are moving fast now that the "commercializers" have moved into F3A.
Come on, buy another. H#ll, buy 2!
Your post here on RCU are the closest most of us WANT to get to these exotic, sallary eaters.
They're very much appriciated.
As is your wallet I'm sure.

I scribed a round of FAI on Saturday at the D4/D5 shootout and so had a chance to see this plane up close and personal. Very nice. After watching and reading this thread I felt like I was in the presence of a celebrity (the plane I mean [:-]). It's a shame it got scratched.

Zeque Build Glow Powered

Bla, Bla, Bla very kind words...

Bla, Bla, Bla...thank you for your comments! The model is very repairable. I have another brand-new one arriving in the AM via FED EX Freight...not what I want to be doing...I have had a dream to fly in the USA F3A Team Trials for over 30 years. I will finish last, will probably not even make the semi-finals with (40) F3A NATS contestants as of today...and I am thrilled to be making the effort to improve every week...thanks to a collection of patient, talented and generous pals including Dave Guerin, Troy Newman and Bill Cunningham.

Here are more photos of my model. I cannot stress how many people, who have seen the damage, marvel at the fact that it survived.

Na na na na...di di di dah dah dah...rrrrr rrrrrr rrrrr (speak outloud to the tune of the 70''s hit "The Six Million Dollar Man"...

While walking back from the retrieving the Zeque

Troy: "Oh man. it''s really not that bad...this can be rebuilt!"

Rusty: "Jeez Troy, boy am I lucky" (Use your best "Leave it to Beaver Voice"

Troy: "No really, it is not that bad...a litle splice here, copy a new bulhead here..."

Rusty: "Okay, you have a project..."

Per Troy''s instructions, I sent the precious Zeque to Troy a few months ago for him to perform his magic. I understand that is in the final stages of completion down to the use of a special paint mask to re-create the letters...no not the BadBrad "Bling", the factory painted details.

The model will have a new owner and remain in District 7.

Ok so that means Rusty wants to see photos....Ok I have some intermediate photos......

Here it is.

When I get it done....I''ll post the details. Right now I''m trying to get it finished.

Here are some teasers...

I have not taken photos since I glassed and started the primer fill stage. However this thing look sweet as far as a repair. A couple little spot to cosmeticallly fix and then its ready for the colors and the paint masking. All the graphics on these models are paint masked on with shading and so on. I have all the paints matched up and the original files to produce the same paint masks.

I repaired my Adventure Bipe last year from some damage about a month before the NATS and the guys at the NATS that saw it thought I had a new model. That repair was a quickie...This one has been weeks of work to prep and prepare for the colors. It will look as good as new.

of note in the photos there is a Cross Brace structure that was used to keep the model dead nuts straight when repairing it. It was removed before the belly was installed. Once the new belly was installed and supports from the old to the new formers were put into place everything is rock solid. Dead staright and only gained about 1.5-2oz over the original weight. This thing is really strong now. Probably over built. I just wanted to make sure it was as solid as before.

With a dry weight of under 10lbs went it was new its not big deal to gain 2-3 ozs on the repair work

Repair looks great.

A couple of questions. Did you use silk or fiber glass cloth over the wood?

What are using for paint. ? I was going to use PPG on my rebuild be the local dealer here is non supportive. The DuPont dealer is not much better.

On my travels this year going to find a paint dealer that will help. I have one back in South Dakota that will do about any thing but he is 750 miles away.

Thanks Mark

Plane is put together and will fly with out a prefect match of paint this year. When weather gets a little better.

Zeque Build Glow Powered...

I am pleased to share that the Zeque has been repaired, repainted and is waiting to be shipped to the new owner. Troy has told me that he is pleased with the results...so I am really going to be pleased.

He will be posting a complete photo suite including the review, repair, surface prep, painting and finishing clear. The photos and text will be posted in the coming days.

For those interested the original kit less hardware and shipping was $3600, plus "x" hundreds of dollars of hardware, wing dings and dealy me call-its. The fully restored version was sold for $2500 with the wooden crate and covers, based on the limited supply of Zeque's models produced in the world, imported to the US, the MARKET price has established a fine value. The Oxai models, in various conditions from broken in half, "flown hard and put away greasy", fully restored to new, continue to command exceptional value to original purchase price.

I am looking forward to my Beryll GP which is in port waiting for clearance through customs.

Thank you Troy for your fine work and attention to detail!
