Default MISSING EVOLUTION

If you see my plane, pictured below, for sale anywhere etc. I consider it to now be stolen property.

I shipped the plane to a person who called himself Jim Stovall. The deal was that he was to send me a replacement Hydemount direct from Central Hobbies and and a check.

No mount, no order with Central, and definieterly no check.

It is in Aurora IL. According to the shipping company it was picked up by this person three weeks ago. He does not answer his e-mails or phone.

This is the first time that I have been burned. No more checks in the mail for me.

Regards,

Eric.

The canopy is now silver with a red fleck.

That guy has scammed a few people. Although I don't like smearing anyone publicly, this guy seems to be one to watch out for....

Hi Eric,
Sorry to hear.
There's an old thread on possible the same guy. They name an existing company where a mr Stovall is/was working.
Maybe the starter of the thread can help you out in some way

Mail Fraud is a felony. Report this bozo to the appropriate law enforcement agency and let them track him down.... and they will[:@]
It sucks getting ripped off, but I'm sure you have plenty of other good airplanes to fly
Good Luck,
Will B.

Anytime I have bought anything from anybody they want the money in their hands first before shipping. I understand this and would want the same myself.

I live in Chicago. I'll ask around. I'll also ask some friends who are in pattern to have a look-see. You said he's in North Aurora? I might be in the area this weekend and I'll probably be in a couple of flying fields. I'll ask there too. You didn't happen to write down any of the serial numbers of the equipment if there were any, did you?

Hi Eric, really sorry to hear about this, nothing lower than being burned by someone, let alone a fellow modeler. Question on your evolution: how did you couple your elevator servos?? matchbox or just through your radio?. I'm new to RC Pattern flew my first contest over fathers day weekend and had a blast, so I've taken the next step andhave almost completed my Evolution. Thanks for the thread on it and hope you get your mount and a check in the mail.

P.S if you have any parts let me know. [email protected]

I built two of them and used both systems. My JR10 uses elev and ch-8. The matchbox only used the elev channel. The amount of wire is about the same because you keep the matchbox near the RX. The weight of the matchbox in negligable.

Both methods worked very well. The matchbox requires you to adjust it in the plane. The dual-elevator option on the TX lets you do it from the outside of the fuselage. The individual centering and the end point adjsutment is about the same with either set-up.

The matchbox lets you use a five channel RX. I used the 7 ch PCM JR 700 RX.

Regards,

Eric.

There is a lot of room for the header height to vary a little. I used my Temptation and Focus headers. If I recall correctly the best drop was 2" to 2-1/4. I also extended the tunnel and used a medium lenghth ES CF pipe. There is a header in my missing one :-)

Eric.

You guys might want to read: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showt...=790137&page=2

Consider getting together and sharing contact info. He's been ripping people off for years. The reason he's able to is no one follows up with local criminal complaints

Why are people still buying from this guy? I don't understand..
I almost bought from him, and almost bought the same story about his wife.. What a scam.. He's still buying things on here.. His wife, if he's married, isn't apparantly doing so bad..

What a scammer!!

Jim, you will burn eventually.. And I know your reading this!! Hope it's worth it!!!!!!!!!!
If I ever bump into you, you will know it!!!!!!!!! I can't stand people like you!!!!

Have you all looked into his other names? He's a scammer for sure.. I'm gonna look him up on ebay.. I'm sure he's there also..
What a disgrace that this guy is into pattern planes..

Lists his phone# addy on 411.com.. Also his neighbors on April Ct.. One could be like a collection agency and call his neighbors to find out if they've seen him with toy planes... Maybe even get them to go over to his house and give him your contact info.. Not that this will do any good, but then he will be embarrassed in his own house..
Once my neighbor came over, they were trying to collect on a bill from my late brother.. Was a strange situation to say the least..

I'm working on some local contacts to help before I have to make a road trip. I left a message at his home phone today to pay back my $1000. Your nieghbors are always a wealth of info because people love dirt about there nieghbors . That's a tax collectors trick. I will never let this go until I get my money!! Even if it cost me twice what he owes me!! I don't care!! I will not let this guy rip me off and do nothing.

i did something similar with an ebay sale. i sent a money order to an out of state seller and the communications stopped altogether. email after email after email and no response. well i lived in that town when i was younger and got an old friend to help me find a lawyer there. then i emailed the 'seller' again, used the local atty's info as the person i would use to prosecute him from out of state. it worked, i got my engine.

Yeah this guy tried to get me with a Funtana Pro I had for sale a long time ago. Apparently he didn't like my terms. I certainly know why now. LOL

I do find it amazing that he hasn't been more "exposed" in the community. perhaps we as a group are so reluctant to say anything negative, we just bite our tongues too much? Giving the guy the benefit of the doubt? Well with this guy, there doesn't seem to be much room for doubt.

I find it hard to believe he's stupid enough to scam that many people and then be tracable. You're likely to find his listed address as an abandoned warehouse or something. or his Aunt's house....

Oh if you go whack on his noggin, get some video

Seriously, proceed with caution......

Sorry to hear about this, but thank you for exposing the culprit. I have been selling a lot of stuff lately, and because everybody I have delt with has been very honest and prompt, it would be very easy to let my guard down. I consider the RC community to be a tight, helpful group of friends, but you have identified an exception. I'll be on the watchout, and I will help in any way I can. Hopefully this person will be caught, exposed, and shamed. Unfortunately, people who scam others do not really have a lot of self respect and therefore shame in the first place.

While we're on this topic...

Has anyone seen or heard from Mr. Russ Honea from PatternProz/Ultimate R/C lately? I know they're out of business but I know he's out there somewhere.

Russ screwed me out of $1620 a couple of years ago on a PL Products Partner kit that I sent to him to build. He built it, flew it and kept it for himself, and then sold it to someone else out of the area (I was later told it went to a buyer in Montana or Alaska), all the while telling me he was going to replace it once he got more kits in from France. I found out later that he didn't just accidentally go out of business, he was systematically giving people the shaft as he went along.

I'd love to locate him and pursue this legally. Anything anyone could do to help would be greatly appreciated (especially if you know of a good attorney in the Tulsa, OK, area that might be able to represent me on this in small claims court).

Thx, Jerry Budd
