I'm in,..this sounds like a bunch of fun!!!! Is there a website for the state park, so I can reserve a camping spot for the toyhauler,....I drink all BEER,....and I always travel with plenty! Your all welcome to join me at the hotel on wheels for a brew and hang for a bit.

I am requesting a handi-cap of 2 points per manevour,..can you work that in for me Arch,..LOL? I guess it's time to round up all my flight gear and get to the field sometime in 2010. Ryan, R-U going,..? Try and talk Joey into going.

I'm planning on making it, however based on my conversation with Dave Lockhart the other night, I may just show up to fly his Taylorcraft. [>:]

JR,

For those of you planning on going to the NATS 2010, this would be a GREAT warm up if everyone shows up to make it a Fantastic event. Scott will be flying pattern this year in sportsman,..so I plan on spending a bunch of time helping him this season.

I am planning on the NATS this year,..but it depends on work and how prepared I am and how much coaching I can get to get me ready. Get UR secret weapon fine tuned JR.

Ryan,...the parking lott photo looks like alot of fun,...see you guys soon!

Ryan,

You can always fly my trainer too.

Bill,

Unfortunately after looking at the website, apparently they have gotten rid of the camping area at the park. There are a couple of other places and I'm trying to get some more info. We are also checking in with the ranger to see if we can get this adjusted to where you guys can camp at the field. I will keep you posted,

Arch

Spoke to the ranger. There will be NO camping at the site. Due to budget cuts in MD a lot of the parks are cutting back. The flying site closes at dark and we have no control over there. There are some camp grounds in the area, but none as close as I had hoped. Hotels should be fairly reasonable though and they are within 10 minutes of the field. The field is located in Hollywood, MD, but California, MD, and Leonardtown, MD and Lexington Park, MD are all within 15 miles of the field. I will see what kind of information I can get for camping at the site. Point Lookout state park has camping, but it is 30 minutes from the field. There are a couple of camp grounds I came up with when searching, but I know nothing about them.

I'll keep working on it,

Arch

After successfully dragging the tail twice, I got a "little" low the 3rd time and it came to a nice sliding stop. Actually the engine ran for a while and put some neat marks in the snow. There are more pictures here.

I'll probably bring my Radian. I told Morgan she needed to talk to Peter because I wanted a Habu for my birthday. From what I've seen, it appears to be fairly aerobatic. Maybe I'll petition to fly that in Sportsman...

Great pictures guys!

Arch, that is one hell of a climate adjustment after living in Del Rio Texas. I got cold just looking at the pictures.

You are correct there. I, at least dealt with it growing up. Tara will probably spend 4 months of the year just frozen solid.

Honestly, it wasnt bad. The wind wasnt blowing and it was around the 30's and with the sun reflecting off the snow it really wasnt bad. I wouldn't do it regularly, but it was fun to at least say we did.

Well guys it is getting close now. We are less than 3 weeks away. The field is ready and both districts have contests under their belts. This is going to be a great contest. Pre registration is open by emailing me at [email protected]

I also really want to get an idea of a head count for dinner on Saturday night. We are planning on eating on Solomons Island at one of the steak/seafood places overlooking the bay. I need to get an idea of how many are coming so I can get reservations made.

Since we are expecting a good turn out and still want to get to dinner Saturday night by 7:30 or so, I'm asking everyone to get registered ASAP and be ready for a Pilots meeting at 9am on Saturday morning. I want to get as much flying in by 6:30 or so Saturday. The sun is not an issue so we can begin flying immediately after the pilot's meeting if everyone is ready. The field will be open Friday after noon for practice until dark.

Unfortunately there is NO camping available at the site. When searching for hotels, search California, MD. Almost every chain hotel is in the area and within 10 minutes of the field.

I still need people who are coming to contact me and let me know so we can plan for dinner Saturday night.

Also, for the electric guys. There is no power at our field. The club will have a couple of generators out to help out some, but please come prepared for not having power for charging.

Hey Arch,

Thanks for letting me fly with you while I was in PAX and the great hospitality! I had a great time and the field is really nice,..after flying your VF3, mine needs mere tweek or two!

I wish I could attend, but I have more pressing issues to attend to,..Please do it again next year, if all goes well.

Respectfully,

Bill H.
