Thought I would post a few photos of my other pattern plane. It is a Black Magiv v2. YS 140 DZ with Hatori header and muffler. Flies very well. Good plane not so good pilot.

RE: post some pictures of your pattern plane!!
ORIGINAL: edwarda10pilot I have decided that as I grow more mature (read older [sm=49_49.gif]) my flying skills have diminished and that since I can't fly as well as I would like [sm=spinnyeyes.gif], I decided to try my hand at designing. Attached are a few photos of my own design 2 meter pattern plane. Wing area is 1054 sq. inches, span is 76 inches and length is 76 inches. Power is OS 160 with Lorenz header and ES Designs carbon pipe. Flying weight is 10 lbs and 14 oz. I have approximately 35 flights on it. I have a version 2 I will start over the winter which will incorporate changes I want to make to the plane (length, wing area, weight reduction diet, etc.). Ed |

Scott:
If you are referring to pictures of my plane in post 749, unlike some "wives" this one only cost a few hundred dollars and took six weeks from start to finish. Much less expensive than a "wife". For those that may not know of the history of "the wife", a few weeks ago I made a post on the pattern thread asking for help in naming my new plane. Scott suggested I name it the "Wife" since it was high maintenance, cost lots of money and took way too much of my time :D. LOL Ed |

Hello
Nebula is a personal design of Rémi Le Besque. Friend of mine Julien bought one kit I built and painted. First flights were done last week. Engine is OS160 FX, Perry pump, 15 % nitro, APC 17x12. |

Here's my latest, a Supra-Fly 40 (scaled down version of the Supra-Fly 45 Unlimited).
OS 46fx for power, it tracks just like my old EZ one. Still needs the last few decals to be put on it, but you get the general idea. |

AHA. I think I see a touch of Brio! Matt, Could you give some quick info on your power plant and how well it is working with a widebody? I hope to be installing a Syssa gasser in my son's VF3. It will be replacing the OS160 that just didn't quite pass muster at the top of the big manuevers.
Thanks Matt. Absolutely Beautiful! Rick |

Rick Engine is the SAP180HP, gasoline 2 stroke on pipe. The pipe is completely enclosed in this model making it very quiet. I am using my own soft mount designed around the engine which requires stand offs on the back plate. The SAP is rear intake and rear exhaust which is ideal for pattern work; very lightweight....approximately 32 ozs for engine, plus 4ozs for the ignition module. I have a whole thread on the SAP for those who don't know such an engine exists, right here in the pattern forum. Also have a construction thread here in the Pattern forum somewhere, about making the soft mount for the rear mount engines on stand offs |

I really like the looks of your plane. Is it an original design? If so what is the construction material? Composite fuse or balsa built up? Foam wings or composite or built up? etc. If you posted it elsewhere and I missed it, I apologize. Ed |

Foam wings or composite or built up? etc. If you posted it elsewhere and I missed it, I apologize. Ed The fuselage started out as a Brio fuselage that has a glass foam sandwich construction. Not the best combination of materials. I found the combo extremely easy to dent and ding. A glass balsa sandwich is far superior and would weigh less. I found I need to reinforce the fuse in many places. Anyway, I removed the Dumbo ears, changed where the wing was located to suit my needs, changed the fin's shape to improve its looks and added a subfin to the fin to improve knife edge handling. Changed how the landing gear are installed and secured to lighten the original Brio set-up and make it far easier to install. This new method is worth a closer look and I will try to show it in a different thread. If I get the energy to do it , that is. Wings, stab and rudder are original designs. The canards too |

The canards too Not really wanting to build a new wing, I can eliminate the roll mix by adding wing tip appendages, angled to add dihedral, or add a small cannibalizer to the canopy with dihedral on the sub wing. If anything, it will improve knife edge character. Have not yet decided which way to do it. Actually have not completely rulled out a new wing. The current wing may yet prove too thick a section for my taste. On the other hand the plane has no problem penetrating even in 25 mph wind which is the condition I flew the maiden flights in. The first flight ended in a dead stick in the wrong place which required considerable drag to land |

Here is a photo of my new pattern plane. It's my own design and it's called the "TALON". I'm really enjoying it.
