Well... she is an empty airframe now... been complete for a few years....
Intended as an electric from the start.....

80 ounces.. no firewall

Never guess who the artisan is that built it!? Holy Smokes... he did an awesome job....

I am tempted to take it to the AMA show in 2012 in Ontrio and enter it.....
This is the first truly AWESOME plane I have ever owned.....

Serendipitous circumstances brought this beauty into my posession... still not sure I believe it....

My new Sickle ARF is nothing nearly as worthy as the hand-crafted masterpieces some of you guys produce. But for the time and effort involved it is a great way to get into pattern in a serious way without spending megabucks.

And in the right light, it looks pretty good if I may say so!:)

So looking at some of these pics confirms something for me. A buddy of mine said no one is flying nitro anymore. I was bummed cause I just bought my first pattern plane and it's nitro :)

I see Nitro here still

Joe,

That is FAR from the case. You will see a lot of nitro planes at a local contest. Most of the hand me downs tend to be Nitro, and there are a bunch of those out there. Nothing wrong with Nitro, especially your OS 1.40RX setup. It will serve you well. If you were starting over, most would recommend going electric, but no reason to worry about that as what you have will serve you well. Then when you get ready to move on, you can look at electrics,

At the D1 contests I attended last year it seemed that more than half the pilots were flying nitro. A couple of odd ducks were flying gassers.

CPLR Still flies Alcohol right??

rcpattern 04-16-2011 08:12 AM

RE: post some pictures of your pattern plane!!

Currently, yes, CPLR does fly Glow. I know some of the Japanese guys are starting to look at electric and CPLR has made the statement that the Contra drive systems will probably be the next major change in pattern flying, which pretty much means he is considering electric as doing a setup for Glow would be very difficult, especially with the weight required,

lablover,

I'd go one further than saying glow is "fine". Ipersonally recommend all new pattern pilots fly glow, at least through Intermediate, because what's important when you're new is getting inLOTS of stick time. When flying glow, especially a two stroke, you will easily be able to getdouble the stick time than if you flew electric. This is what Idid when I started and I commonly put in 18 minute flights, one after the other. For me this made a huge difference in how quickly Iwas able to progress.

BTW,the OS 1.40RX is the PERFECT setup for this!

You're in great shape!

Thanks a million. I can't wait to get her in the air. I bought it late last year and only got in a few flights. I gotta say it ain't like flying any sport plane.

Here's the two Supra Fly's finally finished. They may have taken a long time to have both finished in days, but start to finish was an average of 80 hours.

+1

I loved the OS 1.40RX, it was a fuel, flip and fly motor. I got probably most of my flight time on this motor.

Really glad to read this too! I picked up a Dream 110 with a YS 120 because I fully planned to start with glow, pretty much for the reason Keith stated (the flight times). Given the glow fuel is getting pricey, we decided to roll our own which brings the cost down quite a bit (I know that's not do-able for all). Hoping to get enough practice in to make a few events in the later half of the season. Really good points from all here for us newbies.
