RE: CMPRO LEO 110
tph1, who did you get the Leo from? I'm interested in a different CMP model but can't find a source. I know Giant Scale Planes is a deealer, but they are not responding to my request for information.
Thanks, Norm |
RE: CMPRO LEO 110
I got mine from Giant Scale planes. Call them they are very easy to deal with.

Here are a couple of other things I found that I like with this plane. First, it comes with a blue anodized "Dave Brown" clone mount and also ca. hinges. These hinges are big and have a lot of surface for the ca to wick into. I will have about 10 hrs into this plane when it is ready to fly and I'll post the weight when I'm done.

Just about finished now. I still have to do the pull/pull and the header and pipe other than that it's about done. It may not be quite as light as I would like but it is a very well made ARF and big.
I will post weight either later tonight or tomorrow, back is killing now. |
RE: CMPRO LEO 110
Ditto the request for a motor mount width. Also, the cowl width/circumference. I plan to use an AXI 53XX series in my next plane and am shopping for an airframe, now.
Thanks in advance, Bill ORIGINAL: jho Can anybody tell me how wide the distance between the (wooden?) engine mount flanges is? Thanks Jan |
RE: CMPRO LEO 110
Inside the wooden beams is 1.75" from firewall to back of nose ring is 5.375"
hope that helps |

Here are a couple more pics. I ditched the wood dowel push rod and went with the D.E.P.S. system from Central Hobbies I had left over from my Epsilon. Also used the kevlar pull/pull material that I got from Matt K. it's even purple to match the bottom of the plane.

RE: CMPRO LEO 110
Hi,
How does the CG look cf the recommended position ? Also, what size spinner does the Leo take ? Thanks, Boo |
RE: CMPRO LEO 110
It takes a 2 1/2" spinner. I haven't checked the cg yet because I haven't permanently mounted the pipe.
|
RE: CMPRO LEO 110

I figured out how I wanted to mount the pipe. I just need a couple of ties for it and some clevis's and I'll put it all together and get a final weight and see where the cg comes out and if I have to add any weight or rearrange anything.

RE: CMPRO LEO 110
Hi tph1,
great information from your side, thanks. Can you tell whether it is possible to fit a tuned pipe of 40mm (appx. 1 5/8" ) diameter under the belly pan? I plan to use a 0.90 2-stroke and most pipes are of that diameter or more. Can't wait to receive my Leo 110... :) Regards Jan |
RE: CMPRO LEO 110
I beleive you can do it. The tightest point is about 45mm right at the thickest point of the wing.

RE: CMPRO LEO 110
I got the leo110.
Put a 160fx in it. Came out to 4.2kg. With 2 elevator servos in the tail, it balanced perfectly. Awsome performace, and fun fun fun. |
RE: CMPRO LEO 110
Mine is weighing in at 3913 grams or 8.62 lbs. ready to fly minus gas. Weather is supposed to be good Saturday so I will see if it will fly.
|
RE: CMPRO LEO 110
Has anyone else checked the wing incidence? Mine is negative 1* when the stab is at 0*. That can't be right. I'd like to know if this is a common problem or an isolated incident.
thanks |
RE: CMPRO LEO 110
I just received my Leo today. I'm impressed of the excellent quality of the kit taking into consideration the moderate price. It seems that weight will be an important issue though when building it and selecting components.
I have not yet decided which engine to use. I tend to choose a Saito 100 four stroke which is a cheap and light. I wonder however if it will be powerfull enough to pull the plane of about 4000 g w/o fuel (or 8,8 lbs) through F3A programs. Alternatively I thought of using the YS 110 which is a lot more expensive and heavier. The plane would weight appx 200 grams more with the YS. Has enybody experience with these engines in the Leo or another plane of similar weight? Will I have to add weight in the nose when using the Saito (only 550 grams w/o muffler)? What about the supplied soft engine mount. Can it keep the engine in position? Regards Jan |
RE: CMPRO LEO 110
with the YS 110 mine balanced right on, it may need the extra weight
|
RE: CMPRO LEO 110
Mines got a Moki 135. Havn,t flown it yet but it,s ready to go. Has anyone got any info on how she flies?
|
RE: CMPRO LEO 110
Yes, I have that question too. My Leo is still on the bench awaiting an engine. YS-110 not available, Saito doesn't seem strong enough and YS-120/140 seem to be a bit too heavy.
Anyone have any comments? |
RE: CMPRO LEO 110
Mines turned out HEAVY compared to everyone elses. 4650g with a Moki 135. But it balances at exactly 125mm (the middle of the recomended range) useing a Great Plane CG machine.
I had to use a perry pump to draw the fuel from the CG mounted tank. How did everyone else deal with this problem, or didn't you have this problem?? |
RE: CMPRO LEO 110
so how did it fly tph 1?
|
RE: CMPRO LEO 110
Did my test flight last night after work. This thing flies great, but I'm still having trouble with the fuel draw. The perry pump I'm using is an old one that I got when I bought another engine about 2 years ago. I've got no idea if it's any good or not. Is a Cline regulator the way to go? I can get one here in about 2 days but they are $125AUD. I don't mind if it's going to fix the problem. Any advice appreciated.

RE: CMPRO LEO 110
dafatboy,
How did you go with fuel draw using a 160fx?? |
RE: CMPRO LEO 110
Anyone??
|
RE: CMPRO LEO 110
Hi Greg,
This is the only reference to "running a moki with a cline regulator" that I have come across. http://webpages.charter.net/rcfu/Kit...WGiles202.html Norm |
