tph1, how did you manage to install the deps setup without tearing the bottom of the fuse off for access?

RE: CMPRO LEO 110

Mark,

Access to install a DEPS system in the Leo has been thoughtfully provided by the Cmpro people.

It just requires cutting the covering on the bottom of the fuselage where there is no wood backing.

If you have a Leo it is quite obvious. Do you have one, or do I have the only Leo in the USA?

Pictures: I will post them if I can figure how.

Guys

I can't see in any of the photos how the belly pan is held on? Can someone please let me know.

RE: CMPRO LEO 110

This DEPS installation may not center well. Will have to evaluate from flying. I it is not

satisfactory it will be rebuilt or I will use the MK bellcrank system.

As for belly pan mounting, the rear has two dowels, as in wing mounting, and I have #2 screws

(4) toard the front, two on each side. The screws thread into yellow inner ny-rod pieces ca'd

into 3 /16 aircraft ply epoxied to the cowl. Problems with vibration have yet to be addressed.

Gotcha....that is a smart move on their part to just use covering on the bottom.

Can an owner of a Leo please measure the distance from the firewall to the rear end of the pipe tunnel for me.

I have an OS140 begging for a home, I know a tad of overkill on this plane but choices are limited for me on a limited budget. I see others are putting larger engines in theirs so . . .

Lancair didn't you buy an ESM Arresti III? .....?????? aka "what happened?".

Are you coming to the pattern meet PRAMS this Saturday? Will see you there if so.

RE: CMPRO LEO 110

Indeed I did buy an ESM Arresti III.

Unfortunately it suffered a case of CFIT.

The "T" being "trees" at the southern end of our new field in Ballina.

RE: CMPRO LEO 110

Pipe:

I measured 62 CM from the face of the firewall to the rear of the pipe down spout.

How does that sound to you?

I have a Typhoon 2+2 with a OS140RX and OS pipe and it is at least 70 CM maybe even

more. Looks to me like it would be a little cramped.

Yeah thats too short by about 15-20cm. [:-]

Bugger. [:@] [:o]

Truly sorry to hear it. Now THAT woulda' hurt! [:@]

Presumably engine survived OK and that's it you're planning to put it in a CMPro Leo et al?

Perhaps C U Saturday. Ciao.

RE: CMPRO LEO 110

Actually the damage was limited to the fuselage sides where the wings were pushed backwards, and the left wing in a few pieces.
Replacement wings arent possible for a reasonble cost and Im no builder, so to build a new wing is out of my league.
Serious lack of suitably priced 2M planes in Australia so Im looking at other options. No finace at the moment so just looking and dreaming.
Unfortunately I wont be at the PRAMS comp.

Identify with the "no finance ..... so just looking and dreaming" part. [sm=greedy.gif]

Though in truth, compared with days of yore even pattern ARFs are relatively cheap such that you can pretty much buy a complete model for about what it would cost to buy the materials to rebuild and cover the wings on your Arresti! But I'm with you on the building part. Though I can build well and did for many years, I'm glad we don't have to any more.

As you say, a dearth of 2M ARF pattern ships locally at the sort of pricing you can fetch them for in the US.

That's the problem with pattern and advancing. Playing in the same game with bigger toys costs plenty.

Has anyone actually seen a Leo fly? If so, how did it trim out.

I have received my new Leo 110 and need to know if anyone has seen the performance with an O.S. 91 FX with tuned pipe? I need to decide if worthwhile fitting this engine... Flying at high altitude in South Africa...

RE: CMPRO LEO 110

I have not seen the Leo with a OS 91 FX but I fly my own Swallow 90 with the 91 FX and a Greve tuned pipe. The plane weighs about 4 kg without fuel and it still has plenty of power. Enough for pattern flying. I use an APC 14x8 prop and 3-5% nitro fuel. It should also work for the Leo. I fly at low altitude though.

The Leo I'm building right now will hopefully be a little less in weight, maybe 3900 grams. I will use a MVVS 91 two stroke with Hatori pipe which I like more than the OS because of the rear exhaust. It is supposed to be even a bit more powerful than the 91 FX.

However my OS 91 FX has been very, very reliable (not one dead stick in at least a 150 flights) and it starts easily.

RE: CMPRO LEO 110

Thanx for the reply Jan, I also "had" the Swallow EX 90 flying for about 10 flights with the same OS .91 FX and tuned pipe set-up... that is until a new JR 539 servo (elevator) packed up mid-air and subsequently spelled the end of this great flyer...

You are right, at this stage it looks that the Leo might even come out lighter than the Swallow did... worried about the lack of visible glue though?

Please keep me in the loop as to how yours turned out... and I will do the same.

Cheers

does any body fly this plane with 4 stroke engine?

i have the saito 150 or saito 180 or os 160 2 stroke, what do you think will be the correct engine for this beast?

thanks

this is a great plane but it need power. the cm pro test pilot fly it with ys 1.10 that is more powerful then the saito 150.
now im going to put on it a mvvs 1.50 with pump and a tuned pipe.
i will let you know how it will fly soon

the mvvs 1.50 is a 2 stroke engine
