Thanks Scott. Maybe I have not bit off more than I can chew.

I like the way Harold has the cheeks molded to fit over the wood on the rear section of the cowl. Makes for a nice smooth transition from glass to wood.

I bet the photo is an optical illusion bla-bla. Might want to check it anyway Keith.

You have built your tail section much as Scott did his Titan.. I built mine a bit less sweep and with only a 1" Counterbalance on top. I have about a 3% mix of aileron to rudder for KE. I also have a 2% mix of elev to rudder for KE as well.


I have my CG 1/2" behind the tube. I think 1" would be even better according to those who have much,much more talent than I do. To me its just a great flying plane for Intermediete. I am practicing advanced now for next season, and the rearward CG ,they tell me, will help in the snap. I will play with it and see.

Going to test fly the new plane today(need a cool name for it if anyone has one).

Wish me luck!!! Its not going to be as good as the Titan I dont expect, but I hope its close. All up weight is dead on 10 lbs with the DZ , that should be awesome power to weight.

Bla Bla,

OK, ya got me paranoid there for a minute, so I ran out to the garage to check. I think the twist is from having the camera a little off-center when I took the photo. So far, everything seems square with the jig.

However, the final test will be when this plane takes off for its maiden flight. We'll find out then!!

Keith, I sure like the stab alignment device you have on the jig. How about a few closeup shots of how you did this. My jig is near wore out, and I need to build me a new jig and alignment devices. I guess my jig has over 100 planes built on it between myself and friends who have used it.

I have a seperate jig I use to align wings and stabs, but it would be great to have the wing and stab jigs attached to the framing jig as you have.

Another question, I see you made your jig stations resembling the Gator jig, great work!!
Did you get the channel from Gator, or did you find another source? I have been wanting some in 6 ft lengths, but have come up empty in all my searches. Gator only has 5 ft sections.

Keith man... wasn't the intendtion to freak you out, sorry about that.
Just looked odd in the pricture didn't it?

The real test/check out is to place a piece of balsa across the body flush with each side and stick a pin in the middle. Do this at the front of the pipe tunnel, do the same at the rear of the pipe tunnel and place a pin in the center of the tail/rudder post. Look down the aeroplane and see if all three pins line up...

I just know you're going to be gettin' back to the garage about this one.... sorry bro'.

Still too humid to paint so I ran up the Webra instead. Seems to run fine. I plan to put two-three tanks through it before I fly it. Here is a photo of the stand I made to test it.

Here's some photos of my fuselage jig. I don't know if you remember, but about a year ago I got the dimensions and building ideas from you!!

Materials for fuselage jig:

(1) 3/4" MDF (seal with 2-3 coats of spar polyurethane varnish)
(2) 6' x 1-5/8" channel (Home Depot pipe section)
(20) 3" 1/4-20 bolts
(20) 1/4-20 wing nuts
(40) 1-1/4" fender washers

The base is 5' x 13"
The vertical supports are 8" high X 5" wide (bottom) X 4-1/2" wide (top)
The horizontal bases are cut 2" x 13"
All holes are 1/4"

Materials for alignment jig:

(2) 4' x 7/8" aluminum "u" channel
(2) 4' x 1/4-20 threaded rod (cut into 2' lengths)
(12) 1/4-20 nuts
(4) 1/4-20 wing nuts
(4) 1/4-20 x 2 1/2" bolts
(4) 1-1/4" fender washers
(4) 2" x 1-1/2" x 3/4" poplar blocks


I'll upload a bunch of pictures. . . that will be worth 10,000 words!!!

This is one very informative thread! This website better not crash or I'll be very dissapointed. We almost (well maybe we do) need a FAQ/how to section here - how to make a fuselage/alignment jig would rank right up there in my mind. Thanks for the pix guys.

Keith, I do remember now that you reminded me. I remember going out to the shop with a ruler and paper and writing the measurements down. Now I can build me a new and improved "Keith Framing and Alignment Jig". Thanks.

Your work on the jig and the Titan are wonderful. I may have to make a trip north to see the maiden flight and do some flying with you all.
Maybe we can get You, Scott , and Myslef , and have a TITAN fly-in. :)
Might even get Juan to make a trip with his Gas Version.

3/4 to 1 hr to Huntsville, AL. , so probably 2 hr more to Savannah .
so around 3 hrs. There is no good way to get to Savannah from here. :)

The plans that are out in the public are a limited #. You can contact the desinger Scott Dunphy for a set maybe. [email protected]

Scott has decided to kit the plane in a composite kit. It will be available from Precision Aero Composites by Late Fall.

I couldn't resist a preliminary assembly. I finally got the cowl painted. (But I'll probably never use Lustercote again!) This is the first time all the finished parts have been put together. I'm planning to add a few graphics, but this is the basically how it will look.

Thanks, guys. I can't take credit for the color scheme, though, at least on top. This was r&d'd (ripped off and duplicated) from a JR Propo ARF. The bottom is mine, but that's easy enough to tell! I can apply Monokote OK, but I'm not good at coming up with original color schemes.

I hope we see more of these here soon.

Can't wait to get it flying...

What weight is the plane coming in at?

Most all the T2Ks ,I have seen, have been painted fuselages,covered wing,stab and rudder. I have seen these planes from 10 lb all the way to 12 lbs.

I'll post the weight as soon as I have everything installed. It looked like it would come out very light, but it is quite nose heavy. I'm not sure how much weight I'll have to add to the tail yet. I should at least have all components installed by the weekend.
