I worked on the wings today. . . .

First, make sure the alignment jig is square to the fuselage jig.. .

Then make sure the fuselage is square to the jig. . .

You are going to love that plane. I have built 4 other planes to replace the Titan with, yet none have even come close to the flying style and gracefullness of the Titan. Its still the #1 plane in the hanger. Probably will hold that ranking for quite some time.

Thanks again. I'm really looking forward to flying this airplane. It will be my first 2M airplane. I still can't believe how light the fuselage is every time I pick it up. The contest balsa sure is some soft stuff though, I have a bunch of fingernail dings to fill in before I glass!!

I ordered the epoxy and fiberglass cloth this weekend. I should have the plane ready for glassing when I get back from Pensacola next week.

They are light, but the way its built makes them very strong!
My wood fuse with canopy frame was 28 ozs after glassing the fuse. I really did not try to keep it light. No real need to, as my Titan was built at 10.25llbs.

Sure wish I could make it to the D3 champs, but I have already commited to a full weekend at Talledega for the Nascar races. Me and my Dad make the 2 annual trips there each year.

Did you get your canopy ordered? Let me know if you need one.

Are you going all digital on the Titan servos?

One thing you are really going to like is the rolling manuvers of the Titan.
Its the smoothest , most axial rolling plane I have ever had.. I have 0 differential in mine.

Talked with Scott, he has the plug for the Composite version near ready to mold.
he said he expects fuselages in a month or so. I like balsa wood fuselages myself, but it will make the plane more available for the masses.

I think D3 will be invaded by Titans and Silhouettes next season. I know of 6 Titans being built, and Lamar has his new Silhouette 3 mold near complete.

I am going mostly digital on my Titan. I ordered a flight pack of Hitec digitals, just can't justify digital on the throttle!!

Understand. I use a 3001 on throttle. Have about 5 or 6 of these . Dont know how I came to own them, but I did.

I wish I could make it , but my Dad would never forgive me if I broke the tradition of Talledega weekend.

I did not realize till last week that I had this conflict on my schedule.

Looks like it is going to be a stellar event. They already have near 30 pre- registered.

I hope that once the composite fuselage is available that the wood plans are still available. I prefer building in wood to Composite and it is a dman site easier to repair in my opinion.

Hey Keith,
You may want to try wetting those fingernail dings with some water and going over them with a hot iron. This will remove most of them.

Thanks for the compliments. I'm very happy with how the Titan has worked out and can't wait to get it finished. I'm currently at that stage where you THINK you're 90% done, however . . . .

Scott Dunphy is the designer of this plane and is currently designing a glass fuselage version, which obviously will save you TONS of time. It is going to be sold thru www.precisionaerocomposite.com and you can contact Mike or Maureen Dunphy for when it will be available. I think it's going to be available in a few weeks.

hey guys the new versoin is called the panacea it will be very similar to the smarged........but alot cheaper........i am really looking foward to this plane as it will be my first 2m ship.

Thanks for the response and the suggestion re the fiberglass fuselage. However, I prefer an all balsa plane, specially after seeing pics of your beautiful and inspiring work. I can almost smell that wood! Another reason I can't go for ARC's/ ARF's/ fiber-composite fuselages is that I live in the Philippines, thousands of miles away, where freight costs for such bulky items run up to about equal to the cost of such kits.

So how about it? Any leads to the titan plans or any other all balsa 2m? Even better would be an all balsa kit or even pre-cut ribs/ formers. I appreciate this very much.

Actually, the Panacea is a wide-body glass kit that is designed by Tony Stillman. I think those are now or very soon to be rolling off the assembly line. The Titan was originally built as a wood plane and the fiberglass version will be out in a few weeks. Scott Dunphy is currently finishing the wood plug so that Precision Aero Composite can begin producing them. PAC also produces the Panacea.

That's allright, I was able to write Maureen Dunphy through the Precision Aero link you provided. I just received a reply from her saying that they only currently produce a fiberglass/ foam kit with scaled construction drawings and no longer sell the plans for the wood version. That's bad news for me...sigh, such a nice looking wooden plane you've got on your table.

Finally done! Ready to fly.

All up weight: 10 lbs. 3 oz. A little disappointing; I thought it might come in under 10 lbs. But, I have two batteries and heavy duty switches installed. I had to add 1.8 oz of lead to the tail, which is less than I expected considering how nose heavy it seemed. The long tail helped with that.

The first chance I'll have to fly it with decent weather looks like Wednesday.

The Webra ran fine on the test stand. I have not yet run in the plane.

I didn't let it get above about 8000 rpm on the stand with a 16x8 prop. I kept it at a rich 7500-7800 most of the time. Idle was impressive; it would tick over at just over 2000. Transition seemed fine considering that it is not yet broken in fully. There was minor hesitation, but nothing unusual. I'll tweek the low speed needle a little more when I run it in the plane.

Any recommendations on what prop to use for the first flights?
