RE: Fliton Element 170

I have known Alex for about 6 years, an he's a man of is word. What Fliton is doing, is testing the Pattern Market.
The Element 170 is a bigger version of the smaller Element 30.The Element 170 will be sold is Limted Qty, 150 will be shipped to Japan, and 30 will come to the USA. There will be 2 version,
the ARF 170 all wood and the Composite 170 version, that you have to paint and cover. Fliton USA in CA
is in the middle of moving to a bigger warehouse,an that's the reason the 800- number is out of
service. On a side note that's Ralph Depalma, on the cover of RC AIR World, Go Dist 7

RE: Fliton Element 170

I know their are two versions, but It looks to me that both versions are different by looking at both photos (magazine cover and the actual photos. I will assume as assuming is,.. the all wood version, which is a one piece wing and a the composite version, which seems to be a two piece wing? Would someone be so kind as to provide some clarification on this,....please.:D

I certianlly like the looks and lines of the plane, wonder if we will see one at the NATS here shortly,......anyone.........???

I need a new pair birds!

From what Alex told us a few weeks ago, there will be two versions. The $600 all wood, one piece wing version and the all out composite two piece wing version. It is probably fair to say that they won't have much in common other than general outline. You can see the differences in the pictures posted.

The $600 price seems reasonable. Their Inspire 90 goes for $350. A larger 170 size airframe of similar construction seems very possible at $600.

I think this is great. An affordable entry level airframe from a quality manufacturer. Should help the sport overall.

RE: Fliton Element 170

Yeah absolutely. The one thing keeping me out of pattern is that availability of a great-flying, well-built, AFFORDABLE airframe! I'm psych'd!

Great looking plane....can you divert 1 from the Japan or USA pallet to the UK?

You really need to be testing this plane here....and I can do that!

Looks like everyone is hyped up about the new Fliton Element 170, I am just ordered mine and I am keeping my fingers crossed for a quick delivery. Fliton Korea has been great in its promt reply on my order. I still find that Fliton planes are one of the best there are in the market. Mine will be powered with my YS160, a new one that was waiting to for the right plane to go into.

I am new to 2x2 planes so what sort of servos would you all advise me to use for this plane? I got a couple of Sanwa VRs and 5645s lying about.

Is wooden version available anywhere in Europe? I bet that the price is not 600 dollars. More like 944.04 USD which is 600 EUR :)

The Fliton costs $600 - shipping to Europe will probably cost $400 - $500 from the US. Still a bargain if you ask me, however I'm not sure that they will ship outside of the US.

For those in the US - you can buy the Element 170 ARF (wood version) for $600 plus $100 shipping (estimated cost). If you order and pay for the Element 170 online before July 31st, 2008 you will get a discount of $30 on shipping. You will need to add the coupon id of DK170 to the order form. The plane is due to arrive in late August with shipping to occur in early September. There are only 30 planes in this shipment so get your orders in soon!

I'm sure that they can't keep the price at $600 so I'm assuming they will go up in the next shipment. I've already put my order in. :D

I'm attaching their flyer that they sent me letting me know about the Element.

Lucky I am near to Korea ... hehehee ... I hear 2 arriving in Singapore in 2 weeks time.

RE: Fliton Element 170

Eh maybe they ship directly from China to European dealer. No need for a extra trip to USA and then to Europe. 30-sized Elements are in stock at many vendors.

RE: Fliton Element 170

Hello Derek K,

Question,.........will the beam mount be suffcient for the YS170 with a Dave Brown type isolation rail mount attached or would you think the rails would need to partially removed for a Hyde type mount? I just wanted your opinion on the mounting system before I order one.

Thanks,

Bill Holsten

Bill,

If I remember correctly, it's already setup for a ys beam type mount.

RE: Fliton Element 170

That's what it looks like to me as well,..........I have no experience with those mounts when used with a YS170. I have been running OS-160's for the past 3 years. I am simply looking for some input, personal opinion and suggestions for the mounting of the engine in the Element 170. I would like to try Troy Newmans "shock" mount system to negate the kick the engine produces ,..don't know if that would be possible?

Thanks,

Bill Holsten

RE: Fliton Element 170

The beams are set up for a YS mount but if one wanted to use a Hyde mount I think the only way would be to cut the beams out.

tIANci 07-28-2008 10:52 AM

RE: Fliton Element 170

If the YS is bolted directly to the stock beam mounts will it be really that harsh on the fuse?
