Hi all DX7 believers! Happy New Year! I have been following this thread since last year...ha ha ha

I have a question about the DX7 heli mode version.

Why does it not come with Rx batt and wall charger? Thanks in advance.
I have bought my DX7 today.

Don't know if this is the real reason or not but the seller told me that the wall charger was not included since it is 110 V and is useless in Europe, and that the Rx batteries were not included since they were NiCd that have recently been banned here. The Tx ones are NiMH.

Hi Paul,
Just curious, is your 9C manual for the original 9C or the 9C super? The manual for my new 9C has it on page 36.
A lot of basic things in these manuals are not always that clear, I went nuts trying to get my flaperons working correctly, manual was not of much help for me on this one, when "the light finally came on" it became obvious all of a sudden (hindsight?). A lot of this we have to chalk up to "the learning curve"

BTW, I saw him extracting the Spektrum box from a huge cardboard box plenty of them. I believe it had a post signing indicating it came from Singapore. It seems mine is one of the first ones bought here using the official local HorizonHobby dealers.

Hi Pete I have the original 9C. I remember looking through the book when I got it to try and find out if I should use + or - expo to move sensitivity away from the center and couldn't find anything. I tried using + on a guess and found that it was backwards to what I wanted. It was not really a problem once I figured out which way to set it. Now I am using the Spektrum 7 it is the opposite.

Hi again Pete...I just checked my manual on page 36 and sure enough it is there. Somehow I could never find it when I wanted it. Must be my age HA. Thanks for the info.

What is the polarity of the wires on the stock battery? Brown wire / Red wire. I want to solder the white plug onto my 2700 NiMh transmitter pack which has a red and black wire of which red is positive and black is negative.

Thanks

G'day Mate,
Buy a multimeter, & learn how to use it, will save a lot of questions & frustration.

I wouldn't get to upset about a response like you got. It seems it would have been easier to just give you the answer or no response at all if your question upset him that much.

Thanks

I believe it has flash memory - No battery to replace!

After reading most of this thread all week and going to the Horizon and Spektrum websites I decided to make the purchase of the Air DX-7. I first heard of this system last month at a club meeting where a fellow modeler brought a system to the meeting. He said he had just used it the week before in a .60 size plane (35 degree weather)and no glitches whatsoever. Several other members said that this system was rock solid with out of sight performance.

I just started building the new Topflite Cessna 310 and will be useing this radio system in it. I was originally going to use an airtronics 8000 but now will be using the Spektrum. Its my first twin and I can't think of anything better to use for the price. It shipped out from Horizon yesterday so I should have it early next week.

Anyone setup an idle up/down switch? i.e. flip a switch and the throttle goes up a few hundred rpm or so?

Just returned from my flying field.
I must say I have the best ot two worlds.....I flew two aircraft today...one twin engined...one a hot little 3d. Both planes few on the DX-7 and A-123 cells. IF you guys haven't tried electric flight with the DX-7 you have missed a bunch of fun. Don't let the small electric planes decide as to how you think E-power....I flew a Seagull twin(70" wingspan) and the new (49" wingspan)Atlanta Hobby SebArt Katana S30 . The combination of powerful electric motors and the DX-7 is simply amazing. The DX-7 seems to have a more postive response to your input on the sticks than does other RC gear, and the instant power of electric makes for some mind blowing flying.

Suppose I plugged my battery pack into an unused Rx output, and then plugged a 6" servo extension lead into what is normally the battery port. Could I then use the bind plug, and bind through the servo lead ?

That is what I do and it works fine. I have dual battery packs.

Yes, I would also use parallel packs, rarely do I need more then 5 channels. Having the servo / binding lead available inside the plane, would then allow me to mount, and foam wrap the receiver, and not disturb it when binding.

Thanks. > Jim

I don't know if this has been covered, I haven't seen it.
On the Spektrum do you have to have a receiver for each plane? My older Futaba can set up for different models, but if I need to I can pull the receiver and put it in another plane and the change is done with the transmitter only.
The reason I ask is, I can manage the price of a DX7, but at 100 dollars each I won't be able to afford a receiver for each model I have.
