Default Problems programming XPS Extremelink Module?

Is anyone else having problems setting the power output on the Transmitter module? I have the unit that fits my Futaba 8UA. This thing is making me crazy!! After following the instructions " With the STATUS LED solid red, press and hold the PROG button until the STATUS LED turns off. The STATUS LED will now slowly flash green the number of times equal to the current power setting". Mine just starts flashing rapidly and continually! I turned the power off and tried to bind - no luck! Any clue as to what is wrong? If, by chance, I messed up the programming, how do I reset it to factory default? - or should I return it to XPS?

HELP!

Phil

Did you get yours at Toledo or did you order from the website. The modules from Toledo have a different firmware than the ones that have been shipped out and the programming is different. Check the manual on the website and see if thats it.

Thanks Chris,

I got mine this week - it has the new Antenna and I downloaded the updated Manual from the website. I am following the instructions as best I can with negative results. I must be doing something wrong, but I cannot figure what?????? Frustrating!

When the Rx powers on the LED will light red then start blinking red. At that point you should hold the prog button down until the LED turns off then green. Same procedure with the TX which should be on first to bind, except the Tx will start flashing orange when it is ready to bind. To get into programming mode to change the power setting you have to hold the prog button down for longer than 7 seconds with the Rx powered off or vice versa. By default the module is set at the highest power setting, can I ask why you are trying to change it?

Not trying to change it - just reassuring myself that it was set right. Finally got it to blink 5 times - seems I was not holding the button long enough (7 seconds???) Still will not bind!

What procedure are you using to bind? You should start by turning the Tx on, when the LED starts blinking red hold the prog button until it goes off then green. When you release it should start blinking orange. Now power on the Rx and same thing. Once LED starts blinking red hold the prog button until it goes off then green. Release and mine blinked a few times then went green, which indicates a good bind. Now power off both, then power back on and you should have control.

I had a similar frustrating experience until I figured out that I had a Version 1.0 Tx module. Do yourself a favor and look at both manuals on line, even if you have the new antenna, which I did, and verify which firmware you have. The binding procedure and the programming procedure for the Tx are different between the two versions. You'll have to do a couple power up's with and without holding the button to watch the Led's and figure it out.

Well, thanks ChrisF and Thud Driver! I tried the old Manuals system and after several tries things started moving! I guess I don't have "old timers" disease after all!

Thanks again to everyone who offered help.
