Anyone who provides you with a useful input that you don't agree with or understand is "bashing"? Give it up!

The Hitec Ineed and use is in CA, USA! Also here on this site for almost instant help. Ask Hobby Dung a detail question on set up or performance of your $80 dream system and see what you get as an answer....if ever!

Send us pictures of you flying your big $1000 gasser with that Hobby Dung system......

dbcisco,

So if you are not here to discuss features of the A9, and you are not discussing programming the radio, why are you even here. You are the one bashing the Hitec A9. Some people like to invest in quality. You apparently don't. So leave already, and quit complaining. Start your own thread about the Turnigy. There are a lot of cheap people on this forum that would probably follow it.

Asking why the Aurora is better than a similar product is off=topic?
I asked a simple question. All except, one real gentleman, called me cheap, insulted an entire coutry, and basically told me if I didn't want to praise the almighty HiTec I should go away and find other cheapskates.
Well, good for you. I am now convinced that most of the people who spend lots of money in this hobby are know-nothing snobs. Great way to keep up the image. I almost beleived that this hobby was friendly at all levels. I was wrong. I am but scum and bow to you. I will go play with friendly cheap folk in the Wattflyer Forums now.

Just as I though. A bunch of snobs.
Saying anything negative about the A9 in this forum is akin to bashing the pope.
Your lucky tar and feathering isn't possible via the internet.
I think most Aurora 9 owners expected a negative reaction from the hardcore JR\Spectrum crowd as well as the hardcore Futaba owners.
If any group are snobby it is the JR\Futaba people. We A9 owners got a BMW at a Ford Escort price.

PS: I like a good deal......but I get a little uneasy putting a 100.00 rc system into a plane that might cost several hundred dollars and several months building.

My wife is a techie s I better have some facts when I shell out more than $100 for anything.
Perhaps a thread entitled "I heart Aurora" Would have been more appropriate.

Still no evidence that this a BMW and not a Ford Escort with BMX emblems and price tag. Just like certaim Mercedes are now Chryslers with a new grill and 5x the price.

Maybe you should start a thread - poll of users of the Turnigy radio? That way you'd be finding out from folks that use it, and that may give you information that would be helpful to you.

Looking for Turnigy info and posting links to sellers of it on this thread is a little bit of a stretch of "on topic", don't you think?

Yes, we love our Aurora 9's....why not just be happy for us, and go elsewhere to collect your Turnigy info??? I'm quite certain no would mind.

Great way to convince me the Aurora is so great if you can't even explain why it is better than anything else.

Gee, I thought from your earlier posts you weren't interested in hearing anything about the Aurora. Well, this is a REALLY long thread, and there is LOTS to read. I'd suggest doing that. Then, if you have questions, I'm sure we'd be happy to help clear them up if we can.

I was a former JR9303 user and wanted assignable switches and direct-link channel assignments to stick axes, particularly for 4 aileron biplane setups and 2 servo per wing GS, plus the reduction in airborne complexity of the receiver configurations. These are clear advantages for me.

I was not bashing the Aurora, I am asking questions just like I did when I moved up from an Esky Belt CP to a better heli with a Futaba 6EXHP. I was thinking of moving up in airplanes and would like a radio that I can grow into.
I came here asking questions and got no answers just told to F-off.
Maybe it is a great radio, sadly it seems to be owned by a bunch of jerks.
Please stick your radio and egos where your heads already seem to be.
If I see someone with an A9 I will assume they are ignorant and abussive, because that is all I have learned from the lot of you.

Your best option to get a good comparison is to start your own thread and ask the questions you want to ask. This is a thread obviously dedicated to the Aurora 9. The people that own this radio aren't jerks. You picked the wrong place to ask your question. It looks very fishy the way you came into this thread with info about another radio. If you can't understand that, you may be the one with the issue.

I started by asking if there was a DSM2 module available for the A9 but nobody even replied.
I started looking at alternatives to HiTec, JR and Futaba and found the Turnigy which is 100% compatible with JR modules.

No, currently there is no DSM2 module compatible with the Aurora unless you hack it.

The Chinese are great at copying someone else's product and then dumping it on the market dirt cheap... just look at the $3 HS-55 clones; do people use them? Sure... once or twice and then they realize that buying cheap many time costs more in the long run when you're replacing an airplane since one failed. The Turnigy radio has it's place but it is comparing to the Aurora is Apples and Oranges... It's not in the same league as the Aurora which competes with the high end $1000+ radios for significantly less money.

Currently the Aurora is the hottest radio on the market and is blowing away the competition. It's a high quality product that doesn't cut any corners with the latest technology, service and support to back it up. If you are looking for the ultimate radio, the Aurora is it... if you want a good quality radio with almost everything you will need the Optic 6 is a great choice. If you want to spend as little as possible and hope for the best, then give the Turnigy a shot... heck it's only $60 so what's the worst that can happen? You're out $60 and maybe a plane or two! Most of the time when something looks too good to be true, it usually is. Buying quality once is far better than buying cheap, because most of the time you spend your money twice and end up with quality in the end. This applies to almost any electronic item... I know, been there, done that!

Mike, I thank you for your information and manners. DSM2 compatiblity is a high value to me so that diminishes the utility of the A9 for me. As for the "clones" one must realize that even HiTech "cloned" JR and Futaba in FM, I happen to have a HiTech JR/Fut auto-detect RX in one of my planes. I don' buy into the China bashing arguements, I can find just as many people who will claim that stuff made in the Philipines and Korea (IE: HiTech), Japan (JR and Futaba), or anywhere else (including the USA) is junk.
As for risking a plane, as I said I would like to move up from my current fleet which are mostly TRE and would have no problem risking them with a questionable TX. Heck I flew them with an eflite CX's TX which worked, as in no crashes, but not well, as in I had to physically trim the planes to match the TX intead of the other way around. The two Futabas I have are an improvement. I gear as I start building more detailed aircraft I will want more channels and if that means a new radio I would like one that has an FM module so I don;t have to replace every RX I own, and DSM2 capability as I have a couple DSM2 aircraft, like some of HH BNF planes and mostly because I think DSM2 will become to 2.4Ghz what JR compatibility is in FM (defacto standard). Esp. since DSM compatible RXes are already hitting the market (darn clones)
Anyway, I wish that there were more gentlemen here like you and "udet". Thanks for the info and welcoming response.

Cloned and compatible are two different things. Hitec's FM RX's were always touted as being better than the JR or Futaba RX's but that's another story.

DSM2 is by far the most popular as they were the first to market... but being first doesn't necessarily mean the best. Hitec was last to the market with 2.4 technology so we had to do something special... I dare say we have accomplished that! Owning an Aurora is quite a different experience than any other system, maybe that is why some took offense to your interaction here. I would just tell you to look at one personally to see what the fuss is all about; most that take a hard look at it can't put it down!

Good luck with whatever system you choose.

Mike.

I appreciate your comments Mike ( a third gentleman). I am sure you are proud of your products and your suggestion of getting my hands on one is great. One question you could answer for me is, and this goes a long way toward quality and attention to detail, do the gimble assemblies use ball-bearing or brass bushings? These are the kinds of things that convince me that a product is worth the extra money. Somewhat like a thousand dollar (or more) watch with jeweled movements. You are paying for the almost perfect bearings and balanced gears not the actual value of the jewels which are fairly worthless (My wife was a jeweler).

Yes, quad bearings per gimbal. Also adjustable spring tension, ratchet or smooth throttle without having to take the case apart.

Almost all your questions about the Aurora can be answered here: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_92...tm.htm#9783192

You'll not find a database on any other radio like this one, nor will you get the level of support on the forums that you will with Hitec.

Here's a recent video on the upcoming telemetry package which takes this hobby to the next level:
