My primary radio is a JR 12X and I just got a new Futaba 12FG and I am trying hard to learn the 12FG programming - but I am not there yet. I find the 12Z and 14MZ manuals to be very helpful in better understanding the 12FG. I have a bunch of questions but will limit this to just one area. I am setting up a plane and have selected 2 ailerons and ailvator. When I go to the 'Function' menu I can see that ch1=elevator, ch2=elevator2 and ch4=aileron and ch5=aileron2. The same menu also shows ch1=elevator assigned to control J2 and the trim assigned to T2. It then shows ch2=elevator2 assigned to control "" and the trim assigned to "". What is ""? If you go to the servo monitor both ch1&ch2 are controlled by J2 and both trims are controlled by T2. What does "" mean and why does it not just show the controls J2 and T2? The same scheme applies the both aileron channels. I am enjoying learning to program this radio and see why folks who own them brag about how flexible and capable they are. Thanks

When you first created the model type and selected the 2-aileron, 2-elevator model, the transmitter automatically set the second elevator channel to work off of the elevator stick and set the second aileron channel to work off of the aileron stick. Same for the trims. You only need to set up a single AFR for each FUNCTION. Please note that the elevator FUNCTION controls two CHANNELS, and the same for the ailerons. AFR is "Adustable Function Rate", and governs the function.

Bax,
Thanks - the reminder that I only need one AFR for each of the two functions was also helpful. I experimented with the elevator and assigned T5 to the elevator 2 trim and found that T2 still moved both elevator trims while T5 only moved the one I has assigned it to. I can see where this could be very useful if you needed to move just one servo trim. I have more questions but, first I will try to find the answers myself thanks.
