RE: new engine
Don't pay attention to quoted hp and torque figures, they are utterly meaningless. A good on-road engine (even more important than an off road in this respect) is defined by how the powerband is delivered. The difference between a cheap and expensive racing engine is how much power they still develop at high rpm. Fine, one engine may generate 1.8hp at 30,000 rpm (so that's the figure the manufacturer will quote), but deliver only 0.5hp at 40,000 rpm. Better to have an engine that generates only 1.5 hp at 30,000rpm (still enough), and still be generating 1hp at 40,000. The manufacturer of engine number one would be able to quote the higher horsepower, but engine number two is much more useful for racing and is the 'faster' engine.
Get any decent competition .12, RB Matrix, Sirio turbo 3 port, etc. etc. When tuned properly, they are all incredible engines. My Matrix is too much for me when tuned as lean as it can go (and still run safely), it has more power than I need on a track, I detune it 1/8th of a turn so that I can avoid leaving the track every time I stab the throttle. See what I'm saying?

RE: new engine
I agree with foxy and I also want to say that almost in every "expensive" .12 motor max Hp point is just 5-6k rpms higher than the max torgue point so that top speed comes right after massive previous acceleration. Somewhere between those two points is the best shift point for 2nd gear.

RE: new engine
What model of what? The RB Matrix is one engine... to be more precise, it's the RB Speedline MatrixR (but that's a mouthful, so everyone just calls it the matrix). Also consider the Ninja .12 and the Sirio turbo 3 port, as GYNAIKAS said. If you have money to burn, this is the best .12 engine there is...

RE: new engine
Yeap...as you said money burning...or alternatively pocket destruction!!! 500$ ++ for an engine...I never do that again...the sirio .21 lambert collari endition cost me 750 Euros...but I sold it 800+700 for the evolva )) Nice bargain ha??? So I no more own any on road racers...since 9 of july to be precice. The only thing that makes me happy is that the car I sold had only ran 4-5times on track cause it's a collectors edition engine. So now it's only me and my RS4...damn maybe getting an NT1 will be a good idea to fight with foxy head to heat at FRT...

RE: new engine
Yeap I know its a great car but i am an ex V-one RRR racer and I know that car like an open book! So maybe It will be better for me to get the newest version of RRR than the NT1. I personally concider those two cars equal. Foxy has only heard words from me about my skill...soon i'm gonna proove my every single word. I bet he is one of the best out there cause driving skills without deeper knowledge of driving and mechanics is something incomplete and not worthy...foxy has both and as an old friend of mine at this forum I can also say he's a very interesting person.

RE: new engine
I want to see you too in frt but everything depends on the damn courses...I'm trying to get my degree this year (or maximum the next) and electric engineering is very difficult. So I hope I manage finding some time for serious racing...dude it feels very bad to own only a semi racing car (18ss) especially if you owned 2 of the best racers out there before (RRR, Evolva). I just dont want to buy again such a beautiful machine and having it standing somewhere as a static because of my lack of time. So I'll make my move once and for all when time comes. For now the best I can do is comming in frt just for fun with the only car remained 18ss...maybe with 35% nitro fuel and glue to the foam tyres I'll compete against the NT1...LOL

RE: new engine

RE: new engine
No i sold both engine+Evolva for 1500 euros. I sold the engine more that I bought it...anything rare can be sold for more after a year or two. The evolva had all the titanium option parts and screws on the market...I gained 50E from the engine but I sold Evolva aprox. 300 less than it totaly cost me. Anyway now as I said I have only 18ss for my RC needs. And my dad can't say anything about my money cause everything I buy out of my basic needs is my business. In that case a part time job solves my problems...till i get my degree...[>:][>:][>:]

RE: new engine
we have this engine in cyprus i like the way it dellivers its power but not very reliable as i have seen it perform in races. another disadvantage is that ,that engine can run at 160C*(what i was told) and i would not like an engine to melt down all the other car.

RE: new engine
If you want an engine for bashing with plenty of running time you should checkout the HPI T-15 engine.
I am on my second as they are super good and mine take a beating. If you want to go a little farther do some porting on the sleeve and channeling on the button head, plus some in the crank and you have one good punch engine.

RE: new engine
I think he wants a .12 engine. If not a .12 I'd say go for an outlaw .18 like nitro star 18ss, LRP .18 or OS .18 engine. 18ss engine only costs some bucks more than the T-15 and it's a lot faster. All the engines I mentioned are durable especially the LRP. LRP is well known for its engine durability and low operating temperatures.
