Default looking for a crawler

I'm looking for a crawler.
I want a single engine center drive crawler, something with some scale realism. It doesnt have to articulate like a cork screw, some realistic articulation is nice though. Do they make any really scale realistic crawlers out there.
If so can someone recomend them maybe a link and a picture with body on and off.

Thanks

Hey TIG... nice to see a fellow gasser in here. If you are going for scale then a TLT seems to be the best choice. Not much in stock form, but once streched out to a 1/10 wb with longer links, pede drive shafts, and transmission are VERY capable crawlers. If price isn't a problem, look at the Hi-Lift, it is extremely scale. Check out some of the pic threads here, especially Jason's rigs. I am building a maxx based craler at the moment which are a little harder to build and take alot of fabrication and time. I am leaning toward a scale competition style crawler which will eventually be tuber once I have the shocks and links figured out. I almost bought a TLT because I love what some have done with the scale, but I have had this maxx sitting around for a year now and it is in need on a transformation. Plus I love to fabricate.... Between this and the Marder I have my hands full.

**In response to a post now removed in which they said to go to RCC**

I am a member there..... but linking to other forums is against the rules on RCU.

PLUS... we need to build up the forum here on RCU so that there will be more info here. I go to RCC for crawling info, but I try to bring that info into RCU as much as possible so that the crawling forums here can grow and become more active than they are as of now. More forums means more info and more people into the hobby.

Acs, fancy meeting you here . Thanks for the info.
What kits are available for the TLT?
Yes, the Hi Lift is very nice. I love the scale tube style crawlers, that would be what I would like, eventually.
I know what you mean about fab work, I love to do it as well. My other project is in the works, I'm drawing it up now. I am looking for a Quarter Scale Stadium Truck. HINT; All DOM tubing w/ long tarvel suspension. I'll leave the rest to your imagination.

I am not sure what the different TLT kits are nor the differences in the kits. I know that all the kits require atleast minor mods to make them a capable crawler. As far as wanting a tuber... Definitely start with a TVP chassis first, it is much easier to change suspension geometry(drill another hole) than on a tuber (make new mounts). My maxx crawler is going on the back burner for the next month or so because of the holidays... I only have 1 more travel-free weekend before Christmas [:@]

Okay... There is a TLT Rock Buster and TLT Max Climber..... There used to be different inner axles, but now they are both the same except for the body. The Rock Buster is typically the cheaper of the 2.

No problem.... I am still mostly in the planning stages as well, the only fabbing I am doing now is making hybrid maxx axles. Making the axles is half the build on a maxx hybrid axle crawler.... But the look is awesome! Good luck in the plans, I am glad to help any time.[8D]

You guys want some real info on crawlers you need to got to ANOTHER crawler related site that I'm not allowed to give the address to.

Here is a hint. It has to do w/ RC and CRAWLERs. Then of course there is the whole www. .com thing.

Good luck!

I would not waist my money on a New Bright. They are junk to start out with very weak motors and terrible suspensions. About the only useable item is the hardshell body at that is it.

If you want to go with a walmart RTR then try and find a Nylint.

It's a toy really. It will do fine on the rocks within reason but it's not going to compete with your $600-800 custom crawlers. This is a mass-market r/c.
thats the admin from the forums that rockcrawler.com set up just for these trucks, speaking

It might be a good indoor toy

Those bodies tend to have decent detail, and could be adapted to another vehicle if so inclined. I think they're very brittle, though. The F350 body I have is similar, and will probably self-destruct during a rollover. Might be kinda cool to see!

I'm happy you have some more useful information about their products. I can only comment on the body, unfortunately.

The Nylints killed the New Brights and they suck, so what does that tell you?

They are nice toys to play w/ before getting a real crawler.

D0n't get me wrong, the Nylints and NB are fun ( I own a 1/18 scale Nylint) beginners rigs.

But compared to a HG comp crawler, it's like comparing a Yugo to a BMW.

Good luck w/ the board.

Linking to other forums outside RCU is a no-no, and has been discussed at length.

I agree with Dez, the toys are great and have their place. But if you wish to compete they will likely be outshined.

Every person that I have read about that tried the new brite toys had them break in the first 5 mins out in their backyards. Plus they have no power to do much of anything.

If I could find one then I would get Nylint for messing around with btu they are far and few inbetween now.
