Default startin over

OK guys, I've been looking at the AX10 kit. It looks nice, I'm going to get one next week.

I see that MIP has CVDs for the drive shafts and the axles, are they over kill? The AX10 doesn't look that heavy to me? I've seen people use Stampede drive shafts on the AX10.
I have also seen shocks with no springs, they look cool, but why not run springs? How is this done?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Hello Bucci,

I reworded your "question" for you. It's much easier to answer when posted in English.

The AX10 is a great platform to start with. MIP does indeed produce CVD drive shafts and axle replacements. They are not necessary, but they are a nice upgrade. You can use Stampede drive shafts w/ some slight modifications.

The shocks you describe are referred to as "droop" shocks. They use internal springs and heavier oil than a standard shock set up.

I definitely wouldn't say the MIP axles are overkill. You'd be surprised how much torque can be put on the driveshafts when using low gearing and a lathe motor. I grenaded the stock shafts on the second or third pack. I haven't had any problems with the axles though. If anything the weak point there is the aluminum locker.

The Stampede shafts are a direct swap. You can use Stampede ends or the stock Axial steel ends. I've been running Stampede shafts in my Axial with the Axial shaft ends and yokes for about six months without any breakages. Had MIP sold those driveshafts when I bought my AX10 I would have definitely gotten them.

I use a 35T Warrior motor on 3S lipo and have yet to have an issue w/ the Traxxas shafts. IMO, the MIP units are overkill, but to each their own.

Don't worry about it really. Some members will try to help and others will take issue with your grammar.

i myself have no problem with grammer as long as i can decipher what you are trying to say!

i have been runnin pretty much a stock axial as far as shocks and driveshafts and have not had any driveshaft problems and only twice i have had a shock cap pop off but only under extreme binding, as long as you keep them tight, you wont have any problems. my truck has also been lowered and modified myself from fabbing my own parts out of lexan and a white delrin skid plate i cut out of an old cutting board to relocate my links inward!

i do run the metal rings on my driveshafts and they are showing signs o of twist. ive been doin comps agianst gc2's and bergs that cost twice as much as my axial with digs, and im knockin on their back doors! ive taken 3rd in my last two comps!
