Andy, Unitracts in the UK has available plans by Sepp Uiberlacher for an 83" MkXVI Spit with the teardrop canopy. I have a set of the plans and they are very well done, much like Brian Taylor plans in layout and details. I am considering using them as reference to modify the Taylor airplane into a MkXVI since the wing spans are identical. Unitracts can also supply accessories for the plans including the teardrop canopy.

Bob, it is my intention to modify one of Vic's glass fuselages for my own purposes. Should not be too much of a job.

Chad, I agree it shouldn't be too difficult. Someone on RCU makes a mod kit for the Yellow spit. It contains the aft fuse top and canopy. I have his web address book marked. .. BobH.

Bob, I'm aware of the parts for the Yellow kit that you mention. They look well made and the price is not too bad either. I wonder if yellow would sell me just a fuselage? With the bubble canopy mod and a Yellow fuse I'd be well on my way to a Seafire 46 or 47 which is on my "to do" list somewhere.

Hey Chad,

If Yellow won't sell you the fuse alone, let me know as I need a wing. Maybe we could get together on one.....It's not a "need now" for me on the wing, but I wouldn't mind having for the winter building months.

Im using BT 69" mk14/19 plans. I have a fuse and wing plugs almost ready to mould. I intend to convert the fuse plug to follow on to later griffon engines types. All are intended to be electric. I also have Dennis bryants Mk 22 plans, but i dont know how accurate its shape is.

many thanks
andy

Chad and Dave. I know Yellow will sell the wing alone... If you buy the glass accessories for the wing the cost is close to that of the kit. You guys may want to split a kit.. ??Yellow may even sell just the Fuse. although I have never asked about it...If you (either one) find out. please post here ok?. thanks BobH.

Hi Bob,

I know Yellow will sell me the wing kit alone. If I remember, Charles quoted me 365. I didn't ask if this included shipping or not. I am not sure but I think the entire kit sells for around 595 shipped or so. I was hoping not to have to pay so much for just the wing. In addition to the crashed one in need of the wing, I am working on another spit now. I don't want 3 spits, and was hoping to find a used wing or wing kit here on RCU. Posted an add a while back, but so far no luck. I may just have some cores cut, and sheet myself.

Dave, who do you think could cut the cores?.. I wouldn't mind building another wing for my spit either...
Oh .. FYI.. I'm going to order a Rev 52 engine from Brison for the Spit when they are available. I think this will be a Near Perfect Gas Engine for that plane... I'll let ya'll know when I find out.. BobH.

Andy, the Uiberlacher MkXVI plans should work for you as the fuselage is the same between the firewall and the vertical fin. Just need to scale it down to 69 inches to fit your project. I can scan the fuse sheet of my plans and send you an electronic file if that will work for you.

Dave, thanks for the offer but I've got way too many other projects to invest in right at the moment.
