Well Ace, I kinda like the sound of this one... I personally like to hear the sound of a four stroke, but my hearing may not be as acute or sensitive as yours, so this one maybe too loud; it does sound good through the camera mic, but standing there maybe a totally different experience.

Yeah well I have the advantage of turning down the volume on my PC speakers; when you're standing there, it can be over whelming... but that idle as she passes the camera, sounds just like the old BMW twin motorcycle engines, nice!
How many planes do you have, that one looks nice as well.

Speedracer, can you elaborate on the "scored on sound" part of your comment. I`ve never competed in any form of R/C, I think I have a pretty good idea of what your talking about, just would like some conformation, just curious.??
I`m guessing, it is how "scale" the plane sounds,...keeping in mind ..relative to it`s size.???

At at the end of the sequence there are spaces on the score sheet for sound score and for airspace utilization. Although these are pretty subjective. The key to a good sound score is keeping the RPM in check. If the prop gets ripped which means that the prop tips have broken the sound barrier then you can expect a low sound score. The majority of competitors now use canister exhaust systems and prop to keep the engine under 6K. The good thing is that the score may be worth .5% of your overall score. It's a good way to demonstrate that we are doing our part to be good neighbors and keep flying sites. An issue here in Ca.

On the muffler question consider if you want to attend any local or regional contests many do have sound restrictions. Also if you go the no muffler route use ear protection when starting/running the engine. Most of us older guys can't afford to lose much more than we already have!

In that video link I posted from Toni Clarks site, if you watch the first video, somewhere in the middle to 2/3 thirds of the way into the video, where he hangs on the prop, the camera man comments (ooops) as the prop ripps, sounds like the prop is cutting paper... in that flight position, that is a very difficult thing to stop, as you need enough thrust to take the weight of the aircraft... I found that interesting.

Man, did I open a can of worms or what, stop! That is not another question..LOL!
I have done a little but not much. I have carved and installed the yolk handle, covered the side rail with aluminum, and added the safety logos to the inside. It is a little difficult to concentrate on it right now because the wife's grand father is passing away. Yes, I said passing, his system is basically shutting down. They have given him 24-72 hours to go, hospice is with him currently. But all the family is in and out of here. Please don't take it that I'm cold, I just don't know the man for he is/was a hermit and don't like anyone around. The wife did not know him much either that is how bad he disassociated with people. But the mother in law and others are not taking it well.
Anyway, here is a shot of the cockpit with what little I have done.

Also, please don't inundate the thread with condolence stuff. Like I said I don't know him and only have to deal with the rest of the wife's family. Yielding them their respect is more important than the plane.
Thank you.
Thank you.

Here is a shot of the rudder with some black 1/4" pin striping acting as that buffer thingy in the gap. Not even close to the real thing but suits my purpose real well. In the second pic you can see how I'm adding it to each side of the hinges.

Well it adds the shadow effect of the "gap seals"... if you were to make them a bit wider, then they would show more, but that may look ugly... I think it looks good the way it is... some things you just can't replicate exactly without it causing problems... and you don't want anything interfering with the control surface movement.
***EDIT***
The angle of the second photo does look good... I think you nailed it.
BTW... That Cockpit looks great.

Stickers suck. I've never used a sticker when I didn't regret it. Even if they stay down they're always too thick. I do like water slide and dry transfer. In all cases I will clear coat. If I put anything on plastic-coat coverings then I try to only do so if it's way away from fuel exhaust an know that eventually it's going to start coming off and there's nothing I can do about it and just hope it lasts as long as possible.
