RE: Is kitcutter.com a ripoff?

Just saying that there's no difference in principle between buying a kit and asking someone to ''cut a kit'' for you from plans. I might be willing to spend up to $300 for complicated parts for a complex model (think something like a Ziroli B-24), with lots of ply parts. But I'd be more likely to only have ''the hard'' parts cut and do the easy parts myself.

On a WWI model there's very little worth having cut. It really just boils down to ribs...and I think a set of laser cut scale ply ribs is more than worth the extra expense. I don't think I'd bother with getting anything else cut.
i guess that's the difference between you and i...........i've cut out more planes than i can remember. built well over my age from scratch too.
i'd rather cut my own parts when building from plans than to throw good money away. many people like the one in question probably start out with 100% good intentions and the enjoyment of providing a service, then realize it's work............i won't allow myself to be bit by someone who hits that mode all of a sudden, as it leads to this type frustration.

Let Me clear something up..

When I posted originally I did not know there was another company with a similar name. If I caused any harm or concern to Kittcutters.com, I'm sorry for that. I did not know there was a difference.

Kittcutter.com is the culprit.

My biggest mistake was doing my research after my kit was 5 months late. I would have found the complaints from the gentleman in Germany as he was on another forum long before I.

I think we're pretty much on the same wave-length. Since I exclusively build WWI models I'm really only thinking in terms of having rib sets cut. It would have taken me weeks of work to produce a set of 1/6 scale DrI ribs of 1/32 ply each with 6-7 precision interior cutouts. If I were just going to make a set of traditional model ribs from balsa, I could probable do the whole set in a day. But more and more I'm leaning towards more scale ribs made of thin ply.

Also as more and more plans get draw up in CAD, and using a CAD-style of design, the parts are become increasingly complex and require greater precision. It doesn't take much to cut a set of fuselage formers based on "vintage" plans. But I sure wouldn't want to to try to hand cut the interlocking parts for the CDScaleDesigns Albatros CI. To tell the truth, I wouldn't trust a kit cutter to do it either.

I do not know at what is being discussed here?

- I decided for a Curtiss P-6E.
- I have requested at the Michael "Cornell" "Melanie" Michael's the price of the kit andthe delivery time.
- The price was OK, and the delivery time of 8-12 weeks was OK, too.
- I immediately paid and waiting for my goods ...

So far, so good.

However, I expect that I will be informed if there are problems. If I personally have such great health problems, I have to reject or cancel the orders.

I have heard only excuses, nothing else.

Now when I read of AH1G that he had ordered in February and yesterday received two kits, I wonder where my Curtiss with the order from September 2009??

That is what has reggeee right: 2 + 2 = 4 and unequal kitcutter.com!

Greetings

Manfred

You're right Manfred. You should be angry. For you it's 9 months!! Keep pushing and tell everybody. He will have to A: deliver Or B: refund the money. Keep complaining. He'll get the message

Best of luck with that. I'm past two years waiting for a 120-inch FW Ta-154. I have been getting similar excuses from him for the last year...

I think it's the patience part that I was lacking. I have the tools. Actualy, if I had started 6 months ago when I ordered from him I guess I would have it all cut by now wouldn't I?

RE: Is kitcutter.com a ripoff?

after reading this thread, i now see where you guys have much patience.........heck i'm waiting on SA to send my retracts i ordered over 3 weeks ago that they said were in stock. been off all this week and was wanting to finish framing a FW 190, but have now had to put it off on the back burner for the year. 3 weeks is a pittance compared to what you guys have gone thru.
i'm amzed this guy isn't in jail already.

RE: Is kitcutter.com a ripoff?

OK[b][ As promised, I am here to say I finally received my kit from Kittcutter.com. Cornell Michaels, Michael Neal, Melanie Neal or whomever was involved.

It is 4+ months late but it's here. I don't know how good it is yet, as I won't be able to go through it until the weekend. Please don't mistake this post as any sort of an apology. It's not. I spent a lot of energy and time beating this guy up because like others on this post, I feared I would never get what I paid for. I went after him the only way I knew how. Warn the people he might rip off next. I think he's a dishonest person to deal with and seems to have taken a lot of money without consequence. My method seems to have worked. I'll let you know how good the cutting is. I'll be fair and honest.
My advice to Manfred and the others who have waited longer than me? Keep harassing him and send him a link to this forum so he can be reminded everyday we're watching. That's what I did. He went nuts when he saw what I was doing. So nuts he actually cut my kit.

Read back a few posts, you'll see it.

Hey, reggeee, sometimes you can go in and change the title of a thread. If you can still do that, you might want to remove the s from the URL.

Best wishes,
Dave Olson

thanks so much dave. I didn't know I could do that. It's changed now. i think.

here'a the email he sent me.

"Steve I happen to be a member at one time so please let me go in and inform people how you don't mind stepping on other people to get your kit. I do believe its quite childish and not common of the American modeler that we all know. You act every bit of about 15 yrs old and I believe a sorry excuse for a modeler I might say.Ive been in this hobby about as long as you are old so its good to be nice to your elders. But Im sure that's hard for you..What are you gonna do now?Nobody to ridicule or badger....Hmmmmmm Quite a piece of work you are Mr Chase..Instead of getting a kit to build you might want to invest in a local therapist or alike it will do you good...Good Luck Mr Chase...Have A Nice Day"

Notice nowhere in the email does he refer to me getting my kit. Only that I don't need one, therapy would be better. ( Do we ever really need another kit?)

whatever. I 've got it now. 'I've never built a plane that I wanted to crash before!

Wow! This guy is a piece of work! And who needs a therapist????

reggeee 06-11-2010 04:20 PM

RE: Is kitcutter.com a ripoff?

Oh,.....I know I need a therapist...but that's another story.

here's the response i gave him to that one

"Hey buddy. First of all. I did nothing but tell the truth. So it's not slander. Secondly If you would have been honest and delivered the kit on time or refunded the money I wouldn't have to resort to this. I've waited almost 6 months. And you have had and spent my money! That my friend is theft. So until i have a kit in my hands that is worth the $489.25 i paid you in good faith. i won't stop. and until i have my kit or my money you are ripping me off. Go ahead and inform people. as long as you tell the truth i have no problem with you telling everyone how long you made me wait and how many times you gave me excuses. Just do go on there and lie because i will be standing right behind you to tell the truth. Age has nothing to do with honesty! In fact. You should know better than to scam people. How about that guy from germany ?? did you give him his money back?? or is he still waiting?
"

WOW is right, and i thought i was being impatient about a place taking 3 weeks to ship my order that was in stock.
at first i didn't care for this thread, but man, you have been more than patient.
glad you got your kit though.............hope it goes together as promised

You evidently did the right thing. It got you your kit. Hopefully others that have ordered kits from him will receive theirs also. Another interesting thing is that I see Michaels is watching this thread alot, yet no other comments from him.

Personally, I prefer Precision Cut Kits. Not only has there service been great, but I had some missing pieces out of a small cut kit, the next day I got them.

Haven'te experience Kit cutters yet, doesn't sound like I want to.

To clarify: It is www.kitcutter.com that is being talked about negatively in this thread.

www.kitcutters.com IS A DIFFERENT COMPANY and I hope their business is unaffected by this.

No S, bad. S is good.

Yes. I got the kit. I opened the box to make sure it wasn't dead fish. I haven't gone through it yet. I'll let you know when i do. Probably tonight.

At this point to keep my credibility I should stop attacking him as I told him i would as soon as I got it. I will however help the other guys who are still waiting if I can.

That's awesome! If I had that info earlier, I would have contacted local authorities before doing this post. but i had now way of knowing where or who he really was. I'm afraid to ask how you found this stuff out. Manfred in Germany should use this info. Just letting him know you have it might scare him into a kit cutting weekend.
