After I saw your post I looked up that model you bought via UK shop. Looks really neat and something a little different. I just acquired a Calder Craft "Milford Star" steamer via LoyalHanna Dockyard. Was $$$$$ but is gonna be fun to build. It's a kit with fiberglass hull, a little wood and hundreds if not thousands of white metal castings, fittings, etc. This will be very different for me to build than most of the wooden boats I've completed from Dumas and Midwest.

I didn't think it was offensive either. Didn't someone do something like this last year and show off their christmas decorated boats. It had no problems back then.

I think the powers that be were concerned there might be a problem or protest. Seattle was rocked by a protest a few days ago when a Jewish Rabbi threatened legal action against Seattle Tacoma International Airport because they had Christmas trees in the main terminal, but no menorah for Hanuka. Rather than fight over the trees, the Port of Seattle had the trees removed. Now the Rabbi is complaining about the trees being removed, while at the same time he's getting hate mail and threatening phone calls

My Feedback: (24)
Regarding the Sea-Tac airport thing: Interestingly, a Menorah is in fact a religious symbol. A Christmas tree is not. So the rabbi was off base threatening a lawsuit due to "equal time" for his religious symbol.
A Christmas tree has the letters c-h-r-i-s-t in it, but that does not make it a Christian religous symbol. No more than naming someone Jessie makes them a Christian symbol of Jesus. I worked with lots of fella's named Jesus (Spanish, pronounced 'hay-soos') and they were not all good Christians, lol...

nice pics kmot, me and my jewish girlfriend love them.
I once decorated my fathers boat at christmas, it was simply magical to look at as a child. Think I used 750 lights.
Wish I had something to post.

I hadnt read this reply. I don't want to start anything and dont want this thread binned, however I disagree with your comment that a menorah is a symbol and a tree isnt. The star on a christmas tree represents the star that guided the 3 kings, thus making the star a religious symbol, also the tree is a symbol, simply because it does not correspond with any other religion than christianity. The menorah is much like the christmas tree, just a symbol. I dont think anyone should be removing trees from airports or anything, however Christmas is so overblown anymore that some people can get offended. How do you think jews feel, when they go in a store and everyone is saying merry christmas to you, not realizing hey they might not be christian. Again not saying they shouldnt say it, but sometimes it's too much. How ever much people want to say christmas decorations are holiday decorations, it's only because those people are christians. Not to say they dont evoke good feelings in everyone. The airport thing is just like everything else you see on the news one example of something being blown out of proportion and all over the media when it's only one airport, one guy upset.........etc etc.
Happy holidays

p.s. keep the pics coming
