Default just an idea

this side of the rc hobby aint my forte but i've tinkered around with lil electric boats, i found an old tirpitz model which had an optional motor kit for it, since it provided the gearbox-like thing and er.. the metal rods for shafts i guess it'd be great if i made it rc

the mopdel's hull is not so big and only a small cheap rc boat's system would fit in it. is it a nice idea ? i think it is, it's just gonna look great just by it's appearance not by it's performance i guess. the model kit that i have is the tamiya's begginer battleship model of the tirpits. forgot the scale though

Sounds like a good runner for a small pond.

If its the 1:350 version, the hull is plenty big enough. A bit of sense, care and thinking will allow for a coaming around the opening under the superstructure. The hull is perfectly capable of handling a considerable swell, but will be unhappy with a chop. The big problem is the camo scheme. It will tend to disappear in the right (wrong?) light conditions.

lol yep, the farther it gets, you wont be able to tell. the scheme i might be using is the one the tirpitz used on sea trials. problem though, i need styrene rods for some of the masts and stuff... cuz when i first bought it, i was 7 yrs old and didn't know much about modeling

If you don't have a good hobby shop where you are located, try cutting up and sanding down some
model sprues from any plastic model kit. Wood dowels will also work in a pinch.

Assuming 1:350, brass or copper wire is fine, and stronger than plastic. The mast strucures are not so big as to make top weight become a problem.

Pat that's amazing, 350 eh? O_o wish i had enough cash to buy an esc and reciever for my rc, i might as well make use of what i got. an old rc car? might as well get the car's entire bunch of functions, "servo" it has ( some sort of object that functions as a servo for it but isnt ) and the motor with uh.... the speed controls it's got. that'll do right? i mean i planned this as an inexpensive home project of mine from the start when i first thought about it.

as mi read the paragraphs one by one, i noticed one common thing most of us share, inaccessible hardware
