Default Can anyone identify this boat?

Hi,
Can anyone help me identify this boat. It is a Dumas Fiberglass model with Chris Craft on the side but I do not believe it is a Chris Craft. Thanks for any help.

Thanks Trawlerlover,
The Trojan is the only one I have found that looks similar also. I checked the Dumas site and noticed how similar they are. The only difference I found was the present wooden Dumas kit has an open bridge and this one is enclosed and the length seems one or two inches longer on the Trojan. The hatch is all fiberglass and appears to be original. The paint on the deck was cracking bad and I sanded the top layer off the deck and bridge top and found a professional looking paint job of blue metal flake with probably a few layers of topcoat.
I emailed Dumas and they asked for pictures but have not heard from them yet.
Thanks again because I am new at this and need all the help I can get.

I'm pretty new at this too, but I had the same train of thought as you. I'm sure some of the better modelers could easily enclose the bridge. Also this is only if its not a Chris Craft, it might be. Now we need pictures of what your boat looks like after you sanded off the cracking paint (especially since I like blue ). I have one question for you though, if you joined back in 2003 how are you still new to this? By now you should be a pro.

Trawlerlover,
I will have pictures in a couple of days of the boat after sanding most of the old paint off. Having problems with my digital camera. I am definitely not a pro by no means. I flew R/C planes during the late '70's and '80's and then got out of the hobby for many years. Too much hassle with the gas engines not to mention the crashes (electrics were almost unheard of then). I am now retired and am interested in boats rather than planes. I have purchased plans for the SS Minnow and the Sterling Chris Craft Corvette and but have not started building yet. They should keep me busy for quite some time. I have built a number of R/C planes in years past (mostly from kits and a couple of scratch builds) but never boats so it will be a learning experience I am looking forward to.
I'll get the pictures out this weekend so keep checking back.
Thanks for your help and responses.
Best Regards,
Jerry

I'm thinking about getting into aircraft now. But the problems with gas engines was half the reason I didn't get into speed boats (the other reason is that going around in circles quickly seems boring). These boats will definitely take a lot of your time and as Umi says "there will be next one [>:]". I wish you good luck on all your boats, and I can't wait to see the pictures. However I am suprised at one thing, I'm the only one posting! Usually I wouldn't even be in a "what boat is this?" thread. Where's everyone else?

I don't know where everyone is. I have been surprised at the response. I finally got the pictures even though I still have some sanding to go. Have any ideas, let me know.

[X(] I think it looked better in brown, but that blue is a really cool look. Its definitely one of those things you don't see too often in scale boats. I have no clue what it can be. I wonder if the rest of the guys are going to come into this thread now and start giving suggestions. [sm=wink_smile.gif]

I know, I know, I know..........

The blue metallic flake boat was made Dumas back in the late 70's, it was called the Mucho Macho. They were made for use in amusement parks for the kiddies to play with. There were two versions, one had a single screw with a rudder and the other was twin screw with no rudders. The electronics were housed in a Tupperware container and they came in 16 different colors. Some were released into the retail market in the early 80's. They make good little boats and are very durable. The CC logo and swim deck were not original.

They show up on the Bay now and then.

Check out "My Gallery" here on RCU and see my "Green Boat". A Dumas Mucho Macho with a few details added. http://www.rcuniverse.com/community/...y&memid=185556

Yay! It's someone who actually knows what the boat is. Where have you been? But I was half right, I said Dumas. By the way Green-boat, I like the look of that cruiser. When will it be finished, I want to see some pictures of it.

Where have I been, hmmmm.......

I've gotten side tracked by another hobby [&o] I've been bitten by the scale crawler bug. I check back here now and then.

The Green Boat over it's life has become a test bed for motors, gearboxes and props. It's kind of a work in progress to see what works best. The battery was originally a 6V4A SLA that sat in the center and now there are 2-6V3A SLA's, one on either side. The reason for this was to add an interior to the boat which I still have yet to do. I will try and get some more pictures of it for you once I find the cameras cable, my daughter thinks it's hers and swears she doesn't have it.

Some future ideas include an outboard motor and a jet drive equiped boat. If I could find an inboard/outboard drive real cheap I'd use it also. The last Regatta I had an inspiration to take the red flake one and turn it into a fire/rescue boat with a set of flashing cherries on top.

Hey I picked up one of those recently as well, I only got the haul with motor and hardware, for $18 at an antique shop. The motor was dead so I found an old Fox 25 marine engine that I am going to put in, I know they are only designed for a 10 - 19 but a little extra power never hurts I started to redo it today, I removed all the hardware and sanded the bottom of the haul down and used some bondo to fillet in around the stuffing box on the bottom, the previous owner had some silicone around it. I then painted the underside with some white epoxy paint. I am going to leave the top open and make a windshield for it so that it looks like an old runabout we used to have. I noticed while sanding the haul that where there was some chipping on the edge between the side and top there is a small crack, I would assume I can fix it by laying down some fiberglass on the inside and then use some glassing resin on the outside to fill in the chip?
Here are some photos of mine, its the same color as jltum's boat:

Here is the Fox 25 I am going to power it with.

A-37,

Thank you, it works like a charm.

Ohm1163058,

That .25 sized engine will make that thing scoot. The original hull was designed as a gas boat for a .10 sized engine. The name of the gas boat escapes me right now. It wasn't till later Dumas came up with the cabin and turned it into an amusement park boat. You hull is an actual Mucho Macho just that it is missing the cabin.
